Oldfield is a very nice plantation. The surrounding grounds "spell out" what South Carolina should look like, nature wise, with... its marshes and wetlands, meandering river and natural vegetation (left natural) and homes that fit right into the scene. It'sSouth Carolina in it's natural "form". We ate at their restaurant, outside on a big porch overlooking "nature". The food wasgood and the service was great with warm and very friendly servers. If you want to have a horse this is a plantation thataccommodates and is set up for doing so. Many activities, trails to take peaceful walks while really enjoying what SouthCarolina has to offer at its roots. The buildings for the community for eating, having a drink from ice tea to old fashionofferings not too prevalent today fit in perfectly. They have a wonderful "older feel", but are up to date in offerings. Lovedthe soft "cushy" chairs in many of their rooms. The negative to me is their off highway location. Not too convenient to mostanything without at least a 15 minute or more drive. But - everything in life involves a bit of compromise. Read more
