Almost have to start with the owner & staff...the nicest, most hospital anywhere! Huge variety of pizza, try 'Grandma's.' Had the Jack Daniels sirloin tips...large portion with veggie & mashed potato, salad & bread. Finish with the made-from scratch mini canoli (3 for $3.99).No wonder this place is packed all the time!
I?ve been going to Tjs now for probably close to four years I have to say the food there is absolutely fantastic. It?s a family owned business current owner Nick truly has an amazing team they all work together to make sure that they feed you as if they were feeding their family. One of our regulars we order is their steak salad and their mandarin chicken salad I have to say hands-down one of the best anywhere on the shoreline. They also have this amazing dipping oil and fresh bread they make on site every day you will not go wrong when you go to TJs Pizza. If you?re in the area or you live locally take a chance and go get one of their amazing dinners or pizzas.
I cannot say enough about how amazing TJ's is! The food is delicious, from the pizza to the entrees. Their daily soup/pizza selection is to die for (my personal favorite soup is the Lemon Chicken Rice). However, TJ's isn't just a restaurant with great food, they also have a really amazing staff. The new owner, Nick, is one of the nicest guys you will meet and constantly makes an effort to go above and beyond, along with the rest of the staff. If you are in Old Saybrook, I highly recommend you stop and check out TJ's, you won't regret it!
Chicken cutlet grinder is a bit sparse as well as basically any sandwich other than the meatball grinder which seemed like they tried to slim down as best they could. Cold cut combo used to be packed with meat, now it's like one slice of each type of meat. Maybe 2 small slices. Very underwhelming.
Great service and the food was absolutely amazing! You can tell they put care into everything they make. Waitress was attentive and was handling the dining room by herself. Look forward to going here again!
Although their food is decent. Phill (I assume the owner) is extremely inappropriate. I have been in there multiples times where he comments on my eyes, hair, smile body etc. you could think it?s just ?being friendly? but it?s incessant and over the top. I would t have even mentioned it if the woman next to me hadn?t complained that he also made her uncomfortable. I?m there to get food- not be harassed and disgusted. It?s pretty clear this is unacceptable especially in todays society. Needless to say that was the last straw and me and my family will not be returning. Do better.
One of our favorite red sauce places. If you are looking for that small restaurant that you and your family went to, this is it. Because they cook everything to order, you can modify your meal most anyway you may wish. Try the eggplant, which even my aunt of 95 years, loved. She even liked the prices.
Driving home and got off highway for dinner. Got couple of pizzas, few appetizers and desserts. Good food. Courteous staff. Reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend it.
