Great ice cream from the old days. Food was very good. Staff excellent.
I don't like to post negative reviews of local businesses, but the best I can say about Polar Bear is that the staff are the... best: patient, polite, efficient. The menu is extremely limited, burgers, hot dogs and fried chicken. The fries were plentiful, but not crisp and too greasy. The top of my Burger bun had a stale, hard section which was a turnoff. One of the decorations onthe wall is the section of the back of a school bus with the flashing red lights. Unfortunately the clicking of the light timerwas not in tune with any of the music. The music was not to my taste either. A bunch of Frank Sanatra and oldies that you aren'tlikely to hear anywhere else. The grasshopper ice cream which I had in a cup was ok. But for some reason, the better-half wasn'tas thrilled with her soft serve cone as she expected to be. We dropped thirty-five dollars for a filling but not thrillingdinner, but at least we finally tried the place. We thought about stopping every tome we go to Oneonta. Now we can forget aboutit. First time visiting, SUPER! We had heard their good representation for a while, and finally came for a date. The people are... friendly, not just ice cream is homemade, but pizza too, by the owner! Fresh fried chicken tender, juicy and tasty. We alsobrought home some ice cream sandwiches. The whole place maintains very well. Great for families, events, etc. There is a 45mins short trail - Emmons Pond Bog Trail, only 6 mins away from it. Great activity combination! ???? Read more
