What a wonderful dinner. We came in on Thursday for Hawaiian night. I ordered a $5 rum runner, which was the special and it was... very good, not overly sweet. We began our meal with a Maryland crab cake and 5 oysters. The crab cake was very good, and that'ssaying something as we are originally from Maryland. Our entrees were shrimp and grits as well as cioppino. Both were excellent,however, we would have liked more broth in the cioppino. Would I order everything again? Absolutely. New favorite place! Fantastic service, drinks, food and portions. I had the Brazilian steak cooked medium and it was delicious... with perfect char on it. My wife had a sushi bowl which was also delicious and very plentiful. Sangria both red and whitewere very fresh and fantastic. Really hit the spot. We will be back again and again. Read more
The Beach House is a one of a kind experience offering fresh seafood and beach dishes influenced from around the world. The... decor made you feel like you were on the beach. We had the crab cake and oysters garlic meuniere for an appetizer. For ourentrées we had the last Snapper special with jasmine rice and South Carolina Shrimp + Grits (Being from the Midwest I havenever had this and it was my favorite if you like a little heat). Because the food is so light I feel you always have room fordessert. The only negative is also a positive-The Beach House ran out of all of their specials by 7:30 on a Saturday night.However, that is also a sign of its popularity. The space is small; it has been crowded ever since it opened. Brooke is an excellent server! Overall, the food is tasty and... well-portioned. The sirloin filet comes with roasted potatoes and green beans. The shrimp pad tai had a dozen shrimp in it! Theclam chowder was rich and creamy. This could be a 5 star restaurant except for the lobster bisque which did NOT taste nor looklike lobster bisque. It was too salty and not thick enough for a bisque. Try the smores dessert; it is delicious! The key limepanna cota tasted more like a dense cheesecake or flan; it was not delicious... Prices are reasonable and now Ottawa, IL, hasanother good restaurant to go for date night! Read more
