So sad to finally let my childhood favorite go. I even stuck around when the tacos started being about half the size and the... portion of cheese sauce started diminishing. And even when they started putting about half the meat on the tiny tacos. But nowthose too tiny tacos with pretty much all lettuce come with an even higher price tag. And the bowl of nachos... About half thechips as usual. Seriously? Shorting the tortilla chips? We've always had the same order, but today we didn't order drinks andleft off the nacho only to find the price nearly the same. I can't justify nearly $30 for a few tacos, nachos, and a tacoburger. This review is pretty much pointless as us Taco Via die hards are just that... die hards. But I'm out. And since itappears the I Love Taco Via Facebook page is now being sensored for complaints about portion size and price, I guess it's up togoogle to keep the OGs informed. So long old friend. I love Taco via. The one on 87th Street. Doesn't have the potato oleis and I forgive them for that but it's straight out of the... '70s. I mean they even have a Gallagher machine. But the meat's always pretty good. Yes, it's a little bit expensive but I thinkit's worth it. It's like going in the time machine. Even today. The nice little gun lady working the counter was cool enough togive me some free chips which I thought was cool Read more

People here were so friendly and helpful. Do like the flavor of their sauce, just a hint of spice, maybe falls between mild and... medium? Food options are simular to other taco fast food places, thought cost a little higher. Taste is good and filling.Mexican pizza actually has pizza sauce on it, that was pretty tasty and enjoyed the flavor of the pizza more than the burrito. Read more

Taco Via has very normal Mexican fast food, but it is far more beloved by native Kansas Citians than any other fast food place... in the city. People not from here may not "get it" but most of us grew up eating this and the exceptionally normal taco saucehas a magical hold on some citizens. Like tomato-based crack. Everyone has a certain thing they like best, but simple tacos andthe nacho (small round crispy corn tortillas with melted cheese, diced peppers and crack sauce) are favorites. I love the sancho(soft flour tortilla filled with beef, lettuce, tomato and cheese ... and crack sauce). If you go with a "fan" of The Via, justtell them it's good whether you like it or not to save yourself the lecture. And for God's sake ... do NOT compare it to TacoBell. You might get left behind. I was thoroughly disappointed by this experience. I was craving Mexican food and didn?t want to travel far from home. I checked... this place?s reviews and decided to give it a try. I almost didn?t even walk in because the place is so dirty, dingy, and darkthat you even tell they are open for business from the parking lot. I half expected to tug on the door and find it locked. But,when I did walk in, I was disappointed to find not a single person on staff from Hispanic descent. Clue #2 I should have knownto leave. How can you expect to do Mexican Food well when you don?t have anyone from that culture on staff? When I went to thecounter to order, I asked the the girl behind the register to tell me what was in one of the dishes, and she had to search for aworn out copy of the paper menu (seemingly the only one they have) to read the description to me. When I did finally order Iwent with the enchilada platter which came with a ?salad? and beans. The salad was a joke, just a handful of shredded lettucewith hot sauce drizzled on and half a tomato slice thrown on top. The only smidge of flavor on the entire plate was the copiousamounts of black pepper invading the chicken in my enchiladas, which were otherwise very dry. Even the minimal amount of cheeseon top could do nothing to offset the fact that the enchiladas were tasteless, and nearly hollow inside. The chips were soft, and the beans were bland. All in all, this was a vastly disappointing experience. The icing on the cake is that one of thestaff walked around the dining floor stopping at tables to collect serving trays, walking by several diners, and didn?t say asingle word to any of us. Not once did he ask anyone if they were enjoying their meal, likely because he knows how terrible itis and doesn?t want to invite complaints. I will definitely not be returning here. Read more
