Delicious carnitas taco combo plate; my husband and I ordered two extra tortillas and split it making four tacos which was more... than enough, as they give you lots of meat for each taco. The salsas were tasty as well. Give them a try now! Read more
Best Carnitas around. I have always loved carnitas though it is very hard to find good carnitas. The taste is definitely key but... the meats and the types themselves are key. Personally them to include a good amount of fat not just the meaty stuff. If i mustsay, I'd say that I just learned I like Michoacán-Style carnitas and from what I can tell, they include cuero and buche. I likecuero but not the buche and here they will ask you what you like. As far as the experience, I have been here a couple of timeswith my wife whom is not a big fan of the carnitas because of how fatty they can be be but she likes them here so that gives youan insight into how good they are. We came today and we took 2 lbs ($11.99/lbs) to go and as always, they are delicious. Cameat around 9:30 in the morning and they were already pretty busy for being and the fact that they only sell carnitas with limitedoptions for eating them, tells you how good it must be. Plenty of people eating inside and many more standing on line waitingto be helped. Yes, you have to order upfront but they're fast. They don't have many options; basically carnitas with rice andbeans, or tacos though I believe they now serve burritos. I can't say everything here is good (rice, beans, salsas andtortillas) because they don't standout except for their tortillas which are big and handmade. You have to pay for themseparately but considering, they are worth the extra cost. Overall, I'd say it is a little pricey but totally worth it. I dohave a complaint since I believe you have to pay for their salsas...at least to go. If I recall correctly, the salsa bar isavailable if eating inside but to pay for it to go? Come on, if anything I'd say salsa should be limited but free based on whatyou order. I'd totally recommend this place. If you want carnitas? this is the only place in Oxnard to go. It gets INSANELY busy here around lunch time. So be prepared.... And or go early or later to avoid the long lines. Their carnitas are fresh and absolutely cooked and marinated toperfection. Their options on salsas are great. They have MANY. Their pico de gallo is fresh. I overlooked the old look insidethat needs to be remodeled. I would of given it 4 stars because of this. But the fact that the food just outweighs all of it.You look past it.
