It?s a nice Japanese restaurant, the food is so good and the price is reasonable. Sashimi here is fresh. The unagi is too... sweety, The Uni is not bad. it would be even better if there was a menu with pictures.. parking is not inconvenient.. Read more
(B-) :The wait was long, the food was ok, but a lot of sweet sauce on almost everything. They have one whole fish on the menu... and they were out (6:45pm!!) Poor inventory management? I liked the Black Cod, although (very small though like 1 oz maybe?) itwould have been much better without the sweet sauce covering it up, I scraped it off and it was smooth and buttery. The mac &cheese in the Hamburg Bento box was awful. The"Hamburg" Near was more like meatball meat and seemed like boiled or baked ormaybe sous vide meat, I'll pass on it next time. Excellent food but super pricey. Each dish was made with ultra fresh ingredients. Best to call and make reservations. Family... and I need to wait for an hour to dine outside. We started w mizuna & daikon salad, then dragon roll, unagi roll and assortedsushi. Wagyu beef sushi was superb. Then ended with creme brulee & sakura flower petal jello. IMO their Premium sushi omakase $75 (12 pc + miso soup) is a great deal for those who like sushi beyond the usual tuna salmon... situation. This omakase sushi always includes seasonal & mostly wild caught seafood of the day. For those with bigger appetite,their appetizer or dinner menu got some great small dishes. Or add on other sushi! This is one of the oldest spots in Old TownPasadena. They also have Shabu (Japanese hot pot). They are popular, recommend making reservation in advance. Read more
