How bad can it get? Not by much. I dined in and ordered a French Dip. How can you mess that up? You make a good broth from the... roast beef, you heat a French baguette bread and the roast beef and voila, there you are. I was shocked by what they brought mebut too hungry and hurried to refuse it when I saw it set in front of me. Unappetizing! The French bread was squashed to aquarter inch of sogginess. The roast beef was so over cooked it was dry and chewy. The dip was delivered in a small cup, way too small for the sandwich. The French fries were good, but all the rest horrid. Judging by this unpleasant experience, especiallywhen compared to the many good regional diners, I can't fathom how they get these many good reviews. It would have to beexceptional circumstances for me ever to go eat there again. Read more

So how does a guy from Jersey end up at the Putnam Diner? He has two awesome friends who tell him what the best diner in the... Dover Plains area is! That's how! And yes, we drove a half hour to get there for the best food you will ever have. Of coursein Jersey you don't have to drive more than a mile before you collide with a diner but Putnam Diner is in a TOP THREE favoritediners. And I'll be back again when I visit. Read more
I haven?t eaten here that often, I had a good cheeseburger with fries here and I?ve taken their amazing coconut cake to go many... times. The last two days I?ve eaten breakfast outside here and WOW. I ordered eggs scrambled together (my favorite) with feta,bacon and grilled onions, which I?ve had at two other Greenwich diners, but here it is the very BEST I?ve ever had anywhere.Great prices, excellent service! Eating inside is quiet with nice booths and outside is very appealing with umbrellas. I will beback again and again. Read more
