I hate to be honest? My family and I tried to go to this place a few times but everyone we went it was closed. I finally went... today to treat my son to lunch. It was literally the WORST experience I have had in this area as far as food AND dininggoes. The only thing good about my entire visit was the adult drink I ordered. My son ordered the ?pizza burger? and when itcame out it was dry. My steak was extremely over cooked. And I wasn?t even offered a new one I had to repeatedly ask for a newone. And the prices for what we ordered was RIDICULOUS. We didn?t even eat the food we just boxed it to go. Also the pricing onmy receipt was NOT the same pricing as they had in the menu. This is a smallish, local restaurant but is such a gem! Our dinners usually center around seafood and we can depend on it being... prepared perfectly. After living in the area for 8 years we finally tried Captain John?s at the suggestion of my brother in law. For some reason it... looked like a cheesy seafood franchise from the outside so I never tried them. Boy was I wrong. This family run place has agreat neighborhood vibe with good food and friendly service. My wife had the crab cakes and said they were excellent. I hadfried shrimp and scallops which were lightly breaded, fresh and perfectly cooked. The potato salad side was excellent but alittle skimpy on the portion size. We've been looking for an authentic New England seafood place for 19 years. We finally found one. Captain John's seafood is... tasty, seasoned perfectly and cooked to perfection. The crab cakes, while not exactly like a Maryland lump crab cake tasted justas good. The clam chowder was thick hot and tasty. The lobster rolls tasted like a lobster roll is supposed to taste - justneeded a little celery to make them perfect.
