I have been to Birdsall many times, but tonight was not the best experience. I was seated right away just before 6:45 PM. The... restaurant was quite busy. Our waiter didn't come over until after 7:00, which was prompted by me asking the hostess. The waitersaid it might take 15 minutes for the food to arrive, but we figured we'd enjoy the excellent cocktails and relax. However, at7:45 PM, there was still no food and the waiter hadn't been back once to check on us or offer an update. A few minutes later,the waiter arrived saying the order was placed in the back of the queue by mistake, but that he would talk to his manager to geta discount approved for the troubles. Other parties who arrived after us had already come and gone. The food finally arrived andwas flavorful. When the waiter brought the check, no apology for the severe delay in service, no acknowledgement, and nodiscount or compensation of any kind. An overdue review about the hostess’ unacceptable behavior: I had high hopes for this restaurant. My husband and I decided to... dine here to celebrate our anniversary after looking at all the options. We came in smiling and friendly, and we were excited tosit on the patio and enjoy our food. When we kindly inquired about sitting outside, the hostess bluntly retorted there was noroom there. Her tone was unwelcoming and I quickly got the sense she just didn’t like us - but I tried to keep an open mind.Perhaps there were reservations coming in for the patio. There were several empty booths/nice seats within the restaurant. Wewere led to a small open table in the hallway right outside the door to the patio. The door was open often and it would gustwind onto us, so we quickly and kindly inquired if we may sit in the empty booth right in front of us (away from the door, alittle more private) - but if not, that it was totally fine! The hostess dismissively said that all booths are for largerparties of 4+ and went on her way. Her tone again was unexpectedly mean, almost as if she was disgusted with us, but we respectrestaurant table policy and understood her answer (not her tone, though). Unfortunately, after few minutes in, we saw thathostess seat a party of 2 (White/Caucasian, unlike us) in the nicer booth right in front of us that we asked about (not a 4+group that was needed for it like she said). It felt worse that we could see them in plain view right in front of us; I wish wejust didn’t have to see that or have to sit with it the whole time we were dining. The hostess had friendly chats with themand occasionally glance over at us - I wasn’t sure if that was because she felt bad and meant to clarify with us about thebooth situation - but she didn’t. A co worker wanted to come here so we gave it a shot. Not really my type atmosphere and vibes but it was very chilled. I was... born in Philly raised in NYC. I didn’t get to snap of a photo of it but I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak. It didn’t smack asmuch as I’d like it too but the appetizers gave a good crown to earn 4 stars on top of the drinks that were hittingswell. Don’t let my review justify you coming here. Read more

We were hungry and tired after hiking all day. Birdsall house fit us in and took care of us from the moment we walked in. Note:... next time we'll make reservations. Great food and beer list.
