The food and service at the Garden Restaurant Cafe were as excellent as the art at the Barnes Foundation. The Semplice was... perfectly arranged and one of the best tasting salads I had. The cheeseburger was prepared exactly how I asked for -- mediumrare. Butterscotch Budino was outstanding. Lovely window views. Host, kitchen staff, and servers were all welcoming andhelpful. This restaurant in the Barnes is absolutely amazing...a must see for foodies visiting the Philly art scene. I'd place it in my... top 5 places to eat lunch in Philly. Food ingredients are fresh, and each tasty selection beautifully plated. Wait staff isattentive. This is no run of the mill museum cafe. The experience feels special. Highly recommend. Read more

I went for lunch and got the Steak Frites, a Gin Hound cocktail and had a few bites of the Lemon Olive Oil cake. The overall... service was nice; I wish that the waiter was more cognizant about bringing us water as we were sitting outside and it was veryhot and we finished our cups of water very quickly. (I will say I do think the restaurant needs to do something like eithergetting different pitchers or figuring out some other way so that customers can have a pitcher outside and don't need to wait torefill their glasses). The kitchen was very clean and so was the restaurant, and the food was well prepared. More specificallyI think the Steak Frites needed more to the plate as it was just steak with a light sauce and, I got fries, but you could switchthat for a pile of lettuce. I wouldn't get that specific plate again. The Gin Hound cocktail was extremely delicious and veryrefreshing. I would definitely get it again, and I must say that is a great first experience of gin. The Lemon Olive Oil cakewas good as you could taste the lemon and the raspberry coulis drizzled on the plate gave it some lift. However, the cakestexture was like cornbread and the olive oil was so strong that the raspberry coulis was the only thing that simmered it down. Ithink it was nice and my coworker enjoyed it too, but I won't ever get that dessert again. I don't remember what the cost ofthe cocktail was but the steak plate was $30 alone. My project supervisor took our whole team out for lunch as thanks for ourefforts but that restaurant is not a place I would go to normally as it's out of my price range. Read more

Very nice fine dining experience after visiting the art exhibit. The dining area is very spacious with an open kitchen. I was... surprised how quiet it was with an open kitchen. We had the choice to eat inside or out, although the garden looked nice, it wasvery hot out. The staff were young and very attentive and personable too. A plus, for a party of six it felt like we wereconstantly attended too. A variety of dishes were ordered, tuna melt was poplar and well received. Chicken Salad BLT on freshsourdough bread, roasted cauliflower salad with a side of chicken salad, and lastly Chicken Milanese. All were excellent. Fordesert we shared a Lemon olive oil loaf. It was like a moist pound cake. The price was in keeping with the venue and otherrestaurants like The Garden Restaurant. It was a nice treat and if presented with same opportunity I would do it again. Read more
