Yum! Finally AUTHENTIC BIRRIA Jalisquense! Many people don't know this but birria originated in Jalisco, where my family is from... - La Barca to be precise (just like the owners of this restaurant). And considering how popular its become in L.A., sadly it'shard to find good and authentic birria, so I was pleasantly surprised to find this jem by chance!... or fate? Lol idk but thisplace serves up a pretty damn good birria taco (soft tortilla). The salsas that accompany the birria are almost as good as mygrandmothers (a feat hard to accomplish, as my grandmother comes from a long line of cooks/chefs). The waitresses were veryattentive and quick to fulfill my requests. The manager walked by and greeted me in Spanish, how nice! The hospitality would geta 20 if I had the option. I also tried their café de la ollá which was tasty but a little too sweet for my taste, otherwisedelicious. Then I ordered Combo #1, which comes with a chile relleno, an enchilada, a flauta (better known as taquitos inL.A.), perfectly seasoned rice and uniquely prepared (but delicious) refried beans. As someone who was raised in La Barca,Jalisco, and who knows her way around a Mexican kitchen. This restaurant is fairly good and does the region justice. I'll beback! This was my first time. The food was very good. The service was okay. They seem a little busy at times but ok. The portions... are very large so it is a good value. They have an extensive menu. The restaurant was clean but is very modest. Prices arereasonable. Read more
