Because the pub does not take reservations our party of 24 was seated in a room next to the pub so we could still hear the band,... The service was excellent ( a big shout out to our server Jeremy) and our meals were delicious and hot. Drinks were quick toarrive and overall if was a fabulous evening. I know businesses are suffering everywhere because of lack of staff butconsidering this may have been the case, we didn't feel it. The Waring House staff went out of their way to be helpful. Melinda, the Wedding and Event Coordinator, who helped us with our reservation was especially helpful. A number of the guests that joinedus for dinner in the pub were also staying at the Inn. Everyone was happy with their rooms and enjoyed the complimentarybreakfast. All in all it was great experience. Thanks so much Waring House! Read more

Got seated directly beside the washroom. Smelt terrible and toilet flushing constantly isn’t appetizing when eating. Our... server moved us further away once a table opened up. My friend ordered the stuffed chicken with risotto, veggies and roastedpotatoes. When the plate arrived we thought it was a joke. Missing the risotto, veggies were completely raw and had one minipotato cut up into 4, chicken looked disgusting. Another couple nearby complained as well about their meal too. We sent the foodback at there was no way that meal was worth $35. We ended up leaving and going to Chucks Roadhouse which isn’t even in thesame caliber but way more appetizing and cheaper. Would not be coming back. I get that they are going for an antique vibe butsome things are so outdated and has an old smell once you enter. Literally McDonald’s would’ve been better and has nicerambience. Read more

The Waring Restaurant (Amelia’s Garden)… where do I even begin? The grounds are incredible, nice to visit for the flowers... and landscape. The Waring restaurant is connected to The Barley Room which is wonderful since if The Barley Room has a liveband, it feels like you are right there! Firstly, the decor is very outdated and the atmosphere/ambiance was just okay (more ofan older crowd). The hostess was great, was friendly, told us the specials of the day and had better customer service than ouractual waitress. Firstly, the bread at the table was stale (hard as a rock); we informed the waitress and she said she wouldwarm it up for us and when it came back it was worse! The menu was alright, not much selection, if you are a vegetarian or veganlook for another option. Secondly, for the rice ball appetizer the sauce was cold, tasted like they microwaved it. The entreeswhich we each ordered a different one; steak, chicken, & lamb were full of fat and no meat. To add, the vegetables tasted likethe frozen ones you reheat in the microwave. The service was atrocious ( there were only maybe 4-5 other tables). The waitressonly came back a few times throughout the whole time we were seated. Our water was empty before our entrees even got there andwe asked for more water twice and never received it. This restaurant was recommended by our host and locals. The chef prideshimself on “working with local farmers and having fresh food”, if he means the freezer and microwave than that is a wholenew meaning to “fresh”. Also, the price you pay for the meal is not worth it. Would not recommend, go to the “The Inn”if you would like a fine dining experience with excellent service, food, drinks and you get a view of the lake. Read more

We had an underwhelming dinner at Amelia's Garden Dining room. Servers were excellent but It was pricey for what we got. $42 got... myself a previously frozen steak, carrots, potatoes and broccoli. They were well seasoned but everything over cooked and thesteak was dry. My wife had the locally caught pickerel which was around the same price. Her fish was overcooked and justbland. Because they have a Culinary school and the price of the dishes we assumed it would be a much higher quality meal thathad some plating flair or even some garnishes. In short our meal wasn't terrible, just not what I consider fine dinningespecially given the other restaurants in the area like the drake or the royal. Read more

I must have hit a bad weekend. Reception was not very welcoming. The pub and restaurant staff were great and one person even... helped me get my suitcase to my room as I was in a building with no elevator. The restaurant appeared to be very short staffedin the mornings but the person in charge was gracious and was working very hard to satisfy everyone. Pray nothing goes wrongwhen you are there. I ate supper at the restaurant and 5 hours later was violently ill. I could not get anyone on the phone toget more toilet tissue in the middle of the night. The place was dead and no call was routed to security. At 7 in the morning Ifinally got through to security to deliver a roll of tissue. In the morning I went to reception to report two things: that Ihad become violently ill during the night after my dinner there and that there was no way to get toilet tissue in the middle ofthe night. There were no extras in my room beyond 1 refill which is not enough when one has....you know, massive sickness. Themanager informed me that I could have gotten ill from food I ate during the day elsewhere. There was and still is noacknowledgement that maybe, just maybe, it happened after my meal there. I was fine before supper. And all I asked for was thefollowing: 1. that the chef be notified that I had become ill in case something was off and to prevent others from the samemalady 2. I asked for a refund for my supper from that evening. The Waring House management could have ended this complaintsimply with a refund and the amount was not large at all. But I guess giving a refund means acknowledgement of my complaint. I struggle to think where else I might have eaten something that would cause massive diarrhea and vomiting at 11:30-2pm.Nonetheless after my persistence and follow ups with the Better Business Bureau and Picton Public Health, I got my small refundof 26.59 after 4 weeks of difficult communication and often, non-communication. They insist my sickne Read more
