Likely the only place in Pittsburgh that ?requires? you (in quotes because nobody is going to ?require? me to do anything) to... wear a mask despite the CDC admitting what rational people knew by week 4 of 2 weeks to slow the spread?that they don?twork. Walked in and they do not have anything really. Advertises a raw dairy selection, but nothing was available. Mercatogives them more credit than is due in terms of availability. Tried to ask the employees if they were out of raw milk but theywere incredibly rude (probably treating me badly because I wasn?t wearing a mask). Treated me like the plague. Very cooperative,eh? Ironic that this is a ?cooperative??not very cooperative apparently! Glad that I came though, because now I know that Iwon?t be supporting this business. They still force masks. Prices are MUCH higher than in some other stores on the products I needed. I could not find much for... our family's needs. I WAS able (and very surprised!) to find a specific (expensive but there was!) ice cream that I didn't evenknow existed - that everyone in the family can have! That was a very big plus for me. However, I doubt I will go back for justfor ice cream. (And I cannot go exploring the store, for now, and what it has to offer in a mask - I get sick from lack ofoxygen) Read more
This was my first time going to East End Food Co-op. It's smaller than I realized, but they carry so much! From organic produce... and condiments to all natural hygiene and immune products to books and gift bags, they have it all, it seems like. The store isvery clean and organized. Many of the items are locally sourced. There prices are a little high ($5.99 for a dozen of eggs), butthat's to be expected when paying for quality. My cashier was very sweet and welcomed me when I told her I was a new customer.Also, you need a mask to enter. I love that! I am looking forward to going back! Read more
