Try to make it there once a year, my favorite ice cream as far back as I can remember. Very much a local favorite.
The Cow has always been a favorite of mine and often the highlight of my trips through the area twice a year. Can?t go wrong... with the ice cream, shakes, and malts. I have never tried the other food. As far as roadside custard stands/ice cream joints,this place is legendary, and if you drive through this is a must stop! Read more
Ice cream stands in PA are about a dime a dozen, but The Cow is probably the best bang for your buck for the area. I don?t... really have a sweet tooth, but the hotter weather months entices even the likes of me out for a cold snack. And the best thingis, it?s not just sundaes, cones, flurries, shakes (They make a mean CHOCOLATE shake!). They also have a full functioning snackbar next to their ice cream stand that sells snacks of the savory sort (e.g. nachos, jalepeno poppers, onion rings, fries,burgers, pizza, hot dogs, etc. [I?ve provided TONS of menu pics in this review instead of posting pics of myself withbabies/kids like most everyone else. So scroll down and check those out! WAY more helpful.]). The burgers are fine. Not afan of square cafeteria pizza. The nacho cheese is really thick and has a weird aftertaste. And it?s not served warm. Thejalepeno poppers, fries, and onion rings are good to go. And the burgers and hot dogs are like the kind you get at a backyardcookout. Nothing to write home about, but again, if you?re hankering for salty snacks to take the edge off all the sweettreats, it?s decent datenite food. I haven?t ordered any of the seafood platters or the funnel fries yet. But when I do, I?llupdate with more pics. The staff are exceptionally kind and polite people. The customers on the other hand are a differentstory. This particular ice cream stand gets swamped with customers. So you?re going to see quite a few impatient peoplestanding in line and hovering over the shoulders of the people standing in front of them. People jockeying to cut in line. People not managing their kids or pets they bring to the window. And people who exercise absolutely no social situationalawareness after they have received their order, and just block the window area eating their ice cream instead of moving on.
