Lil' Shalom is a great place for comfort Mediterranean food. Their Pitas are fresh, the Hummus and Falafel are delicious but the... star of the show is their Moroccan Carrot! The place is very conveniently located and walking distance from other popularDowntown Portland spots like Pioneer Square and Powell's Books. This also means parking could be a little difficult in the area.I love their outdoor seating which is very peaceful. We usually get the Lil' Shalom plate which is a nice platter of theirsignature items and usually enough for 2 (with a small appetite). Highly recommend! Read more
We find this place on a trip to Portland. The restaurant is fairly small, but we were fortunate to have a day where we could... sit at their outdoor tables. We tried the Nazareth kebab and an order of the classic hummus. The kebab was fresh and veryflavorful. The hummus was smooth and tasty. I would recommend ordering a and pita if you get hummus. I was excited to find an Israeli cafe. Came in here for a quick lunch and I don?t think the server/cashier wanted us to be... there. After a few snobby comments, we should have just left, but I did want to try the food. The other person on the bar wasvery friendly so I just talked to him from then on. The falafel plate was tasty. Fresh falafels, great hummus, labneh, arefreshing salad and a homemade pita on the side. We also got the chicken and rice okays and the chicken was a bit chewy andovercooked.
