Had dinner here with husband while Travelling up the coast from VA Pleasantly surprised to find a desi restaurant in this small... town. It is right in downtown of Portsmouth, Beautiful interior, great music playing The cleanest kitchen I have seen in arestaurant. The bathroom was like , as if its in someone?s house We ordered vegetable samosas, 2 in an order, Shrimp -do-pyaza,chicken Peshawari,comes with rice which was as flavorful as the two dishes Then Naan was yummy too. Perfect 5 stars! From the food, the service, the ambiance, everything about this place is wonderful!! We?ve been here twice and... the food has be phenomenal both times. They have a wonderful variety of dishes?not just butter chicken and samosa but dishesyou?ve not seen at most Indian restaurants in the US! The servers are friendly attentive. They don?t asking if you are ?workingon? your food. They ask if you?re still enjoying it! These little details really make a difference. The restaurant is clean andwell-taken care of. The decorations are beautiful. It?s clear the owner takes great pride in their business and it makes for afantastic night out. With everything so expensive these days, it can feel like a waste of money to go to a restaurant with badfood, ambiance, or service. Shalimar will not make you feel this way at all! Read more
