Gonna be honest - not impressed. Service was slow (to be fair, there were a couple of large parties) and we kind of felt... forgotten. Spätzle was bland, red cabbage was not sweet and all and very heavy on the vinegar, and the schnitzel was dry and atad overcooked. Their beer selection was vast, and their fries were hot and crispy, so at least it had that going for it. I justdon't know that of all my options in the area that I'd care to visit again. Read more
I ate here several years ago and was glad to get back this weekend. As soon as I knew I was going to be in the... Norfolk/Portsmouth area I knew I'd be eating at The Bier Garden. The food is authentic German and wonderful. The beer selectionis enormous. The environment is perfection. Read more
I really wanted to like this place. The waitress was super sweet. The beer we asked for was out. The food was really not German.... We just wanted an authentic tasting meal and it did not hit the mark for us. We drove from an hour away and wanted a specialGerman go to place. We were disappointed. It was super cute outside though. Wow! I was very much in the mood for German food and these guys knocked it out of the park! The food was phenomenal. Not only... did the menu have all the things I was looking for it had some surprising items that were also terrific. Good portions for theprice and great atmosphere. Unsurprisingly, they were understaffed, everyone is right now. However, they were very upfrontabout it and handled it with incredible grace. I don't love the parking in this area but your mileage may vary. The quality,flavors and the fact that they clearly mark Gluten-Free items on the menu and online means we will be back. Read more
