Ate at Matteo's Howard Beach last night for our anniversary dinner. Let me tell you, it was the best meal we have had in a... while!!! My husband started with the Lobster Bisque Soup, which he said has nice chucks of lobster in. I started with theMatteo?s chopped salad, which would have easily fed 4 people as an appetizer. Then we shared the bucatini carbonara and the vealMilanese special, washed down with a bottle of Riesling. I wish I new my waiters name, he truly was a gem, huge heart and lovedhis job. Our glass was never empty, our plates were never empty, got the whole wait staff to sing happy anniversary over apistachio tartufo. We loved the table side service and the hospitality. The only downside was there was a party upstairs and wecould hear the muffled music over the music that was trying to play in the dinning room. Definitely won?t stop us from comingback. Read more

Food was fabulous!!!! The decor was stunning. Only huge downside was my husband and i, who were sitting next to each other, had... to communicate via texting because we could not hear one another. Even though the restaurant was only half full, it was SO SOVERY LOUD!!!!!! Almost felt as if some tables were having a contest of who could talk and laugh the loudest. I have NEVER beenon a restaurant this upscale and this loud at the same time. it ruined an otherwise wonderful meal. Read more

If you're interested in a fantastic Italian meal in the Howard Beach area, it's going to be tough to find a much better option.... We had 8 people in our group and no reservations (we literally pulled into town an hour prior) and they sat us IMMEDIATELY. Ican't even get that kind of service at home in western NY, let alone anywhere in the NYC area. The staff was amazing and superfriendly, the atmosphere is what you would expect for fine Italian dining and the food was outstanding! It was more than whatI'm used to paying for, but I expected that being where it's located. My only regret was not saving room for dessert! Get theircalamari and thank me later! Read more
