As a transplanted New Yorker I'm always on the lookout for two NY staples. One is a good bagel (come on - you know what the... other one is!). I was told that I wouldn't find good bagels in N Carolina but then I came across Andy's (Lucille's?) NY BagelCafe & Deli! I had already been burned once by a place that supposedly had 'good' bagels - but THIS place was legit! Want totest it? Try the Cinnamon Raisin bagel. They nailed it. Don't be fooled. A bagel is NOT just a giant bread cheerio. There's atexture, a bite, a chew... Glad I found this place - just with it was close enough to do a regular Saturday morning bagel run.Next - a bagel breakfast sandwich! I have high expectations! Read more
I used to love the bagels here, but sadly the quality has gone out the window. A couple weeks ago, I went for a bagel sandwich... and the bagel was stale. I gave them another chance and went this morning at 9am and bought a dozen bagels and 3 cream cheeses. The bagels were clearly from yesterday (or maybe the day before) - they were rock hard and had to be toasted in order to beedible.
