This place has been a Raleigh staple since NC State won the NCAA basketball championship and still has some of the original... employees! I wandered in for the first time this week after my ex-favorite seafood placed raised prices 80%. ???? Now I am kindaglad they did or I would have never found this gem of a restaurant! ???? Captain Stanley's serves NC style Calabash seafoodalong with other options. I knew it was a good choice when I pulled up to a packed parking lot and cars parked on the side ofthe road. For some reason inflation hit softer in this corner of Raleigh and you can still get perfectly cooked seafood for areasonable price. Plates start at $9.99 with cheaper sandwich offerings and great deals for seniors. The shrimp platter is just$14.99. It was my birthday so we went all out and for $17.50/person got the Captain's platter. It came with homemade clamchowder, a basket of the best hush puppies, flounder, shrimp, scallops, oysters, deviled crab, and choice of 2 homemade sides. Iam a big man and we still ended up taking 2 large trays stuffed full of leftovers home. Everything was perfect. For sides I canrecommend the fried okra, lima beans, slaw, potato salad, brunswick stew, or fries. Stay away from the greenbeans as they werepretty bland.
