Key word at this place is consistency..My family has been coming here for over a decade and sometimes I won't stop in for months... or a year; but each and every time, the food remains consistently good and the staff are always friendly and attentive. A wonderful, gourmet Greek restaurant in Ramsey, northern Jersey. Basically, anything you have ever had in a good Greek... restaurant, they have here. Both grilled haloumi and sauteed kefalotiri cheeses for appetizers; baked shrimp Santorini withfresh tomatoes and feta cheese, and galaktobeuriko - fine, lemony custard with phyllo pastry, for dessert. Unfortunately, theydon't have a liquor license, and I love Greek wines, especially the white retsina wine, which has The unusual, but deliciouslight taste of pine resin. First time here. When we arrived we were seated immediately. They were busy. They put small plates with toasted pita wedges and... kalamata olives down while we read the menu. We both ordered gyro platters. There were lemon potato wedges that were perfectlycooked and seasoned. There was a salad, lettuce and beautiful tomatoes, that had a delicious dressing on it. I wasn't expectingit to be dressed, and it was bright and acidic and refreshing, which worked really well with the gyro meat. The meat was verytasty and slightly greasy, but in a good way. Sometimes you get gyro meat platters and the meat is too dry. There was ampletzatziki sauce that had the perfect consistency and was very tasty. And of course the triangular wedges of pitas toastedperfectly. We did not have to ask for extra pita. The only problem I had, and this is a very minor problem, is that the lettuceis shredded. It's kind of hard to grab shredded lettuce with a fork. I wanted to take a big bite of it, but I had to twirl thelettuce like pasta. Great on a sandwich, not great on a platter. We shared a slice of chocolate cake, which was moist anddelicious. We also shared a slice of baklava, which was everything baklava is supposed to be. The service was excellent. The gyro meat was delicious! Usually I need extra sauce, but not here. I'll be back again to try more dishes!
