Pleasantly surprised! We\'ve been frequenting a popular place in Tustin for hamachi collar and are now in trouble because it was... more than comparable and so close to home. My Philly roll was a great ratio, a lot of salmon, less rice = no filler. My husbandenjoyed his baked salmon roll, and we both complimented the lightly battered veggie tempura. Bonus points for the nicepresentation even for takeout, a pretty orchid was included. Read more
I had a hard time giving this place a rating. It replaces a well loved sushi place, Niko Niko which I hear was good. I ordered... a Philadelphia roll, a spicy tuna roll and a salmon skin handroll.\n\nThe salmon skin handroll (temaki) was excellent and on thesweet side, which is fine by me. There was plenty of umami flavor and crunch. The chef was generous with the salmon skin.\nTheother two rolls were average. The tuna was spicy but that was the only flavor I tasted and the tuna didn\'t feel luxuriousenough in the mouth. The Philadelphia roll wasn\'t smooth enough as well. Take a look at the pics.\n\nI\'ve been spoiled byother places in Los Angeles. If the rice isn\'t warm and seasoned properly and fresh, I leave slightly disappointed. I didappreciate them keeping the rice on the thin side and the very nice presentation.\n\nThe two sushi chefs working at noon on aFriday were older, which to me means they knew what they were doing. They greated me at the door which is the traditionalJapanese tradition. I got my order quickly. And all of the staff was friendly, especially the waitresses. They were friendly tothe other set of customers as well.\n\nI was also given an amuse bouche of a dragon ball and a palate cleanser of apple slices,peanut butter and maybe a basalmic vinegar glaze. Not sure why other rated high. Lucky I can give 1 star, or I\'d subtract!\n\nThe gobo is supposed to be 4 pieces. More like 4... \"shreds\" of pieces\n.\nThe fresh Kizami Wasabi isn\'t worth 3.50 nor is the gobo.\n\nThe sesame chicken is all dark meat andawful.\n\nThe heart attack, which isn\'t cheap either is soggy and horrible.\n\n1st and last time, Never again!\nNot worth$60.00 Read more
