I'm in town with my wife and kids, and we wanted a good diner breakfast. Gold 'N Silver Inn did not disappoint! We got the... chicken and waffles, French toast, pancakes, and a Belgian waffle. Everything was delicious! Our waitress was awesome and thecashier who checked us out was super friendly, even giving my kids a toy. I'll be back for sure. Read more
Up front: I was craving carbs, and I got 'em. Got a half order of biscuits & country gravy (both tasted homemade, not what I ... was expecting) with 2 sausage patties and a side order of the best hash browns I have ever had, bar none. Evenly golden brown,crispy, hot in the middle--they were delicious. Also had half a huge iced cinnamon roll with some very good coffee. If I didn?tlive in the Midwest, I would eat there a couple of times a week! Sorry for no photos...it all looked so good I started to eatright away and forgot to take photos of the food for a review. The Gold and Silver has been a family staple for over 30 years in my family. So many good memories and good meals with family... and friends and just seeing the building brings all those memories rushing back. I feel that the Gold and Silver should bedeclared a National Landmark because it has been the lasting impression of Reno Nevada. I am truly saddened to learn that JacobIndustries has purchased the Inn with plans of demolition so they can continue adding to the stupid neon light district. Whichis absolutely ridiculous. Why would they rob the people of Washoe County the right to have five generations going to fellowshipand enjoy good food in a setting that has been here longer than most of us? My heart is broken. Gave this place another try, and it was much better. Fish was not that great though. I tried this place for the first time and... wasn't impressed. Handful of issues throughout the visit. Ordered coke with no ice, young guy brings coke with ice, it waseasier to just take the ice out myself. The main issue, Ordered fish n chips with garlic frys, once the order was ready, it saton the counter for about 7 minutes, I couldn't find my server. Once i received the food, the frys was cold, but still goodflavor from the garlic. Fish was on the cold side as well. Before leaving, I requested a coke to go, but the server brings medr. Pepper lol. The wife n I hada ck it out finally after Easter service, we'll worth the try, I had the corn-beef n eggs w/B&G. The wife had... the steak salad, huge portions especially 4 the price, service was really good between r waitress n the busser's my coffee cupnever got near empty... highly recommend ????So... the wife n I decided 2 hit this 4 turkey day din-din (jus the 2 of us). Theroast turkey dinner with all the fixings and everything was phenomenal love this restaurant!!! Great portions the waitresses nthe atmosphere r old school.
