I drive thru this area all the time but this was my first visit to El Recreo. After reading all the reviews I had pretty high... expectations and I was not disappointed! I got 2 Tinga Tostadas and a Chorizo Gordita. The tostadas were brought out first,within just a few minutes, and they were excellent. Especially with the salsa verde and squeezed lime juice. Everything tastedfresh and they were very flavorful. The gordita was brought out shortly after. It's huge, first of all. You definitely get yourmoney's worth. Crispy outside and exploding with flavor inside. So good. I will definitely be back again soon! Read more

The tortillas are made in house! On Saturday and Sunday they serve birria. They go the traditional route and use goat meat for... their birria. The quesabirria tacos are big so they are $6 each and you have to order consomé separately, which is about $7.They were delicious! Super juicy even without the consomé. The birria tacos served only on the weekends is delicious! Lots of meat (lamb or goat?) with cheese and cilantro. Also comes... with a big bowl of soup that had I think garbanzo beans, rice and cilantro in it. The lady said you can dip the taco in thesoup. Read more
