My husband and I stopped in for lunch yesterday. Charming place and cute decor but the service was slow despite us being one of... only a few tables and it took way too long for our food to come out. Considering we had chili that I assume was already made anda turkey sandwich that you put together I don’t understand how the only thing that had to be “made” (french fries) cameout barely fried, not crispy and cold. The chili was fine but for an $8 bowl having a piece of bread or even the option of atopping would have been nice. Instead a couple packets of oyster crackers were tossed on top of my husbands plate. His sandwichwas very good but the fries were cold and a small thing of ketchup accompanied it. Walking in we saw the sign to seat ourselveswhich we did but the only employee we saw was behind the bar and didn’t even acknowledge us entering and we had no idea ifthere was a separate waitress or not until she finally came over with menus. Based on previous reviews and answers from therestaurant I don’t want excuses that you were busy (you weren’t), you were short staffed (then say you are and we shouldexpect a wait), or we should have said something about cold food because we waited long enough and didn’t want to sendanything back. If you’re a restaurant and you actually fry your French fries, plate them and serve them immediately they wouldnever come out cold. I did appreciate the discount for being a school employee and we’d like to try your place again withhopefully a better outcome. Read more

Was suggest to come here via a friend. Decided it would be nice to treat out friends, my wife and toddler on Mothers day.... Thankfully, my toddler had great patience waiting an hour and a half for our food! We saw multiple tables get their food beforeus. It was four simple burgers. Server did not do a good job checking in on us while it seemed like an eternity to get food. Wedid get one water refill. No napkins and silverware until we asked the bartender. Did we have to request pickles? Only twoburgers got pickles. The seasoning on the tots are not worth an extra dollar. Burger was cooked well done. Will debate aboutreturning but uncertain at the moment. Read more

If the dishes at this place were songs, and they had a greatest hits, right at the top ya better believe you’d find the grits... ???????? Alright alright, I’ll only joke for a bit. Sometimes the food just fits and it takes little wit… Fine, I’llquit???? Behold, The Birdhouse ???? ???? ???? Fried Brussels Sprouts with Gruyere Cheese ???????? Pot Roast with FriedMushrooms, Radishes, and Horseradish Cream ???????? ???? BBQ Shrimp and Grits with Caramelized Onions, Andouille Sausage, andCitrus BBQ sauce That last one was mine. And I won’t forget it ???? bringing the heat big time were cheddar jalapeño grits,Andouille, and peppers, but it wasn’t overpowering by any means. Crazy creamy grits, I mean this dish had me savoring itsrichness for a good long while. And the sweet citrus sauce, caramelized onions, all mixed in with shrimp… oh ya, You Betcha isall I have to say! ???????? 11/10 I tried a bite of my fellow foodie’s dish and definitely liked the roast the most. But thespuds were no duds, and the horseradish gave me a balanced bit of its characteristic burn. Finally, the appetizer—You’llinstantly forget any mushy childhood memories of Brussels Sprouts when you bite into one of these babies. Crispy but not burnt, dressed in gooey cheese… if counting calories, you’ll wanna Gruy-err on the side of caution and not get these too often????????????? This place was marvelous! It for sure flies up my list of favorites ???? Stop by The Birdhouse before word getsout to too many birds… trust me or taste the truth for yourself, it won’t take long for more to flock to this Robbinsdaleblock ???? Thanks to Annette for joining me and Mitch for the recommendation!!! Read more

First time visiting had some time to kill before a meeting so I stopped by for lunch. The beer cheese soup was amazing! Loved... the pretzels & popcorn they topped it with. I also got the buffalo wings but did not like them at all but that was just mypersonal opinion and not due to restaurant making any mistakes. Read more
