Rockford has a lot of good places to eat that we don't have near us, but any time we find ourselves in Rockford, Machine Shed... is at the top of our list for restaurants. Prices are typical for restaurants these days, but you do get more food here thanat other restaurants. Bread, cole slaw, and fried apples were served family style alongside our dinner entrees whichthemselves came with a potato and vegetable. At $9.99 per slice, the chocolate cake seems expensive, but when you considerit is big enough to serve four easily, actually is quite a value. If you're looking for some good home cooking, this is theplace to go. Read more
Several of us were meeting there for lunch we went in and were greeted by a not so friendly "hostess" we asked if they served... breakfast all day to which she said "No, but we do have a limited breakfast menu right now" she asked how many of us there we soI told her. She walks us to the middle of the room and asked if we wanted table or booth I said table she puts the menu down onthe table and walked away. When I went to open my menu it was all wet, sticky and in need of a good wipe down. We all sat downand after a bit a not so friendly server came over and took our drink order. We tried joking with her but she didn't seem to bein the mood for us and continued her not so friendly attitude. After we ordered I went to the restroom to wash my hands fromhandling what ever was on that nasty menu and told the hostess she or someone might want to wipe down the menus as there wassomething on at least one of them however her response was "Oh". The restroom was dirty, littered with paper towels and toilettissue on the floor and a toilet gross and dirty. Our drinks came and they were all correct and fresh. When she was taking ourorder we had to repeat several times we were on separate tickets. One person at the table ordered the hot potroast sandwich(like it says on the menu) and she looks at him and says you mean the hotbeef? Our soups came out one at a time and separated byseveral minutes taking so long we were thinking she didn't hear the second person ask for soup. The onion ring appetizer are notat plentiful as they used to be but the flavor was very good. When our meals were served the potatoes and gravy were barely warmso the gravy was on the thick side. Absolutely loved it! Whole family stopped here on way back from vacation and we are so glad we did. Great food options, quality... was excellent, food portion sizes were great and we all had leftovers. I love that they bring out cottage cheese, Cole slaw,rolls, and zucchini bread for whole family while you wait on your meals. Waitress was excellent! Very polite and attentive toneeds. I never had to ask for refills because she handled it. Prices were very reasonable for quality and amount you get.Looking forward to the next chance we get to stop here! Read more
Lovely place, if you squint your eyes a bit, you might think you were at a Cracker Barrel. Food portions were fair to small,... however they made it up in flavor. And the Staff could not have been more friendly. I am going back this weekend with friends. Read more
