The Southern Cafe is mighty nice! This place is usually packed but the wait goes by fast. The endless menu of possibilities will... have you visiting many times. All the food looked and tasted delicious. We had country fried steak and the corned beef hashbreakfasts which didn?t disappoint. The country fried steak was perfectly done, well seasoned and very tender. The corned beefhash is made in house and is delicious! They give generous portions and everyone had takeout boxes. The biscuits were huge andcame with homemade strawberry and apple butter jams. I was impressed with them serving premium coffee too! The hash browns werenice and crispy. This was a great place to go to! I have seen this in both st Charles and roselle and wanted to try, so finally was able to go! ... Really clean inside, nice patio, hot coffee, quick service, and seated quickly! Staff were pleasant and attentive (even jokedwith us, which is always a plus). And great sized portions of food. Had one of their specials (the dirty bird Benny) and itdidn't disappoint. Great spices used (not too hot and spicy, but just enough), eggs done just right, great fried chicken, andthe biscuits were very savory! And the potatoes were nicely seasoned as well. Great brunch place! Plenty of parking! Design of a modern barn. Obsessed with the decor. The style is warm and inviting, with... plenty of windows and natural light. Me and my hubby ordered for pick-up from here for the first time and it was such a great decision!! We are not from this area... and the hotel food was beyond appetizing. So this was just a last resort and we have no regrets. The portions were great and sowas the taste! We ordered the chicken and waffles it was so good, crunchy moist not dry and the waffles were fluffy. All with anorder of biscuits and gravy, fluffy eggs creamy gravy.
