They say this deli is called Al?s deli but on the map it?s called Bread Basket. Which one is it? We couldn?t get into the deli... we wanted to visit so we found this one and we?re glad that we did. Between the corned-beef and the pastrami, the food wasaverage. The corned-beef was grainy/gritty and all too lean. The pastrami was up there but definitely not the best that I?vehad in a Detroit deli. The bread was good but it seemed to be a little ?off?. The saving grace was that they had Faygo dietbeverages. I was treated terribly as soon as I walked in. The guy at the counter acted like he had no time to talk to me and proceeded to... look around me. I noticed after I ordered they had a special for free drink and asked. He told me I would have to pay more, eventhough the sign said free drink.. Unfortunately I believe this is because I was wearing a black pride shirt. No other whitecustomers that came in after me were treated this way. Even after I tried to be polite and say thank you have a good day, hejust stared and never responded. I recommend no one goes here. The food is decent but not worth the racism. Read more
Al's is the absolute best! Definitely a Metro Detroit Staple! Been coming here for years and it is always delicious! They have... the best staff working so hard. Stop in and see Eddie at the front counter he's always so friendly and sure to make you smile! Read more
