So. The first time I ate here for brunch about a month ago I got the biscuits and gravy and was disappointed - I have been vegan... for a little over a year now and do my best to lead a healthy lifestyle. Therefore I love Zest's approach to food, so mydisappointment may have been misplaced. When I ordered the biscuits and gravy I was hoping for a biscuit that was somewhat closeto a normal, non-vegan biscuit: buttery and flaky. That was not the case with theirs, and their gravy had a taste that remindedme of Indian cuisine (which I love, it just wasn't what I was expecting). So I didn't think I'd be back but flash forward to7.24.22 when I decided to give this place another try for another brunch w/ pals and order something different; and HOLY COW I'mglad I came back! I got the Hazelnut pancakes w/ BASIL maple syrup and I decided from the moment I tried that basil syrup it wasthe new love of my life (the pancakes alone were close second). Bonus points: the atmosphere of the place is very welcoming andthe both times I've been the servers were lovely :). Moral of the story: give Zest a try! Just keep in mind their healthierapproach to food when you order certain items you ate a lot as a non-vegan and you can avoid an experience like my first visithere. Thanks Zest! <3 Read more
Stopped in without a reservation (sorry, didn't realize that was necessary!!) but they were still willing to seat us at the bar.... The restaurant was insanely busy that evening but certainly didn't mean bad service. Everyone was very friendly and did theirbest to keep things moving. I am not a vegan eater, but was very impressed with the quality and taste of the meal. The drink wasdelicious also! Next time that I'm in SLC, it'll be on the list for a repeat visit! Read more
What a fantastic place! Food was delicious - I had the soup of the day (which was so good - creamy cauliflower with curry spices... to add some depth of flavour). It came with a cheese toastie which was just delicious. Cocktail was also good. And the service -exceptional! Such warm friendly servers who also gave great advice about the menu. Food was yummy. Carrot cake was amazing! The drinks were super good. 5 stars for that The customer service has much to be... desired. Maybe because we arrived after 2pm and the lunch rush was over. Only one person waiting on the tables. It was not busy,so that makes sense. But the greeting person, the waitress, and one more would be on the phone or in the back sitting andchatting while we waited to order drinks and then to get the cake… and then again we had to go to the back to call anindividual in so we can get the bill and check out. I presume they do better with more crowds in. We chose to go later to avoidthe traffic but actually spent longer given the inadequate attention devoted to the patrons. I will go again. Definitely. First of all, I should disclose that I am a happy carnivore. Zest kitchen is 100% vegan and gluten-free. This is why we came. My... hot date is vegan and has a gluten sensitivity. She was so excited to be able to order anything off the menu I had nachos thestuffed jalapeños and the avocado, toast. It was freaking delicious!
