Not a very good experience this visit. Seated in a section that already had a party of approximately 25 and two other 4-top... tables. Only one server between all of us. Had to go get our own drinks after waiting 12 minutes for anyone to check in with usafter we were seated. Our server made repeated visits to the large party while only stopping by our table once to drop chips andsalsa and eventually take our order. Food was dropped by another server. Even after the other 4-tops were cleared, our servercontinued to focus on the large party. Food quality was good, but portion sizes were smaller. Prices were up around 20% as well.Again, not a good experience overall when combining the poor service, paying more and getting less. Ambiance was great as usual. Read more
My husband brought me for our anniversary dinner. Food was amazing, ambiance was great, live musician was mellow and relaxing,... server was exceptional! Queso flameado was to die for! This was our third experience at La Hacienda over about a 10 year period. We thought we'd give it one more try to see if our... experience was different from the previous two. Our takeaway thoughts have been consistent each time: 1) The food is okay. Not bad, but definitely nothing special. I will say, though, having to pay an additional $1.99 for a little bowl of chips andtiny bowl of salsa now is ridiculous and comes across as nickel-and-diming the customer. Just up the prices a few cents on allplates and you'll easily cover the bill for those cheap items and eliminate the little signs at each table stating customers nowhave to pay extra for what is a staple at all Mexican restaurants. 2) We believe it's popular because it can handle largegroups and has a lot of outside seating, along with an area for kids to play and occasional live music. In that regard itreally is a great venue. 3) The prices aren't too high for most of the food, and some folks may come for that and the comfortfood factor. If bland is what you like, this is the place. 4) The service is a mixed bag, and has been on each visit. Ouractual waitress was very friendly and smiling, though she was stretched way too thin over a large part of the dining room (wewere there on a Friday evening early), but when we first arrived, the youngish woman with glasses working the hostess booth wasdefinitely NOT friendly. No smile, no welcome, and when we said we were there for dinner for 2 she said, very curtly, "Insideor out?" NOT a way to greet customers. Realistically, we probably won't be back, as there are a number of other better Mexicanfood restaurants in town. One of my favorite spots when visiting SA. They have a cute outdoor seating area with cooler fans to beat the TX heat. A lot of... shade too from the trees. Food and drinks are good, and as entertainment they often have live music. Read more

Came here on a Sunday to sit outside to have a few drinks over lunch. It wasn't crowded at all, but was quoted a 30 min wait... for an outside table. I assume it was due to more tables available than waitstaff. I put my name on the list, but a table wasready within 10 minutes. Server was very prompt and friendly. Took the drinks and appetizers orders while I looked over therest of the menu. It wasn't hot, but all the trees provided plenty of shade. Started off with a few margaritas and the puffytacos. Drinks came out within 5 minutes and the puffy tacos within 15 minutes. Margaritas were very refreshing while sittingon the outdoor patio. Puffy tacos were very good as they had a nice crispy, puffy shell filled with meat and veggies. For themeal, ordered the mixed fajitas for two and they came out within 15 minutes. The amount of beef and chicken was well-portionedwith a generous amount of vegetables with sides of rice, beans, guacamole, and salsa. Many people were casually eating anddrinking while enjoying the weather, but you never felt rushed. It was a nice way to spend a Sunday over food and drinks whileenjoying the weather. Read more
