Menu for Eco Caters in San Diego, CA

TLDR: good quality but safety issues regarding food allergies, incorrect order, misleading menu, & dismissive when confronted... regarding issues The quality and taste of the food is great. I had a major issue at my event with an allergy. I let them knowthe guest, table, and allergy months in advance and they never alerted me or the guest that there was an ingredient that wouldcause a reaction. I guess they were supposed to mind read the ingredients? So they ate it and their throat closed. Very unhappyabout that. I brought it up to their team and the basically reassured me that safety is very important and they're so surprisedthis happened, which makes zero sense to me... I'm also unhappy that our tasting included ingredients that were not included inmy order. Some of my decisions on dishes were based on this ingredient. When I asked why it wasn't included, they told me it wasnever on the menu. Then why did I eat it and have a whole conversation about it with the chef because it was my favoriteingredient? Pre-Wedding Experience with Eco: Emily and I did 2 tastings with Eco to make sure that we chose the correct meals for our... guests. We upgraded an appetizer, salad selection, and entrée selection. Eco caterers advised us that the most expensivearrangement ? the poppy arrangement- provided the most food and would be more than enough. We chose to go with this arrangement.We are of Ukrainian background and thus we informed Eco that our family will be bringing caviar and pickles for each table. Weasked if they had the ability to provide Lithuanian bread and told them that we could provide it if needed. They told us thatthey could do it and it wasn?t a problem. Day of Wedding: We purchased dishes for caviar and pickles (as our contract stated),and my mom came early and plated all the caviar so it just needed to be put out on the table. We brought crackers- approx. 20boxes, to be put on the table. Cocktail hour: The cheese table during cocktail hour was obliterated ? many of my guests wentthere only to see it was empty. Dinner: On the table was not ?assorted breads?, like Eco?s contract stated. There was one typeof bread, that accompanied the Lithuanian bread I paid for, Italian white bread. Eco ran out of all bread within an hour ofdinner. Eco ran out of all butter within an hour of dinner. When I came into the kitchen to see how this could be (because Icouldn?t believe it) I was told the following statements (with my responses below): ?We ordered enough bread and butter? ?Wefilled up each basket twice? Obviously, not. I had guests asking for bread and butter throughout the night to eat the thousandsof dollars? worth of caviar that we flew from New York. Caviar was in my contract. Eco Caters was one of our FAVORITE wedding vendors. Everyone knows choosing your caterer is a large part of the wedding budget... and that food is one of the larger parts of the guests' experience. So I was very, very picky when deciding on a caterer and wasdown to a couple favorites. However, when it came down to it, I chose Eco Caters because I absolutely love their food optionsand the fact that they're eco-friendly, organic, and overall a fresh, eclectic vibe. In addition to that, I really enjoyedworking with Janee and Jessica. Part of what sealed the deal in terms of choosing them was heading to Ocean Beach to do atasting, where I met the head chef and his wife, who run the business. They were super professional, and displayed that they hada great level of experience doing exactly what we were asking for. Their flexibility with the menu was HUGE for us, and allowedus to save here and there, which made a big difference for us and our budget. They did a great job with the bartending andmaking our specialty drink. I actually had a couple guests tell me they loved the bartenders themselves. That was a HUGE bonusbecause when employees are clearly happy doing what they are doing, even though it is hard work, that vibe reflects onto thewedding day experience, so I was happy to hear that bartenders/servers seemed pleasant and not just trying to get through thenight ;). We also chose to have Jessica/Eco manage our rentals as well - which was a life saver. Jessica did a walk through ofwhere we were getting married (San Diego Botanic Gardens) so that we could determine what was needed. I loved that she took thelead in telling me what was most common to do, what I didn't need, etc. The day went very smoothly, and guests raved about thefood. Eco Caters helped us have a perfect wedding day. There prices were reasonable for the high quality, their communication leading... up to our big day was excellent, and they were attentive and accommodating during the dinner. I?ve been in the industry for a long time, worked hundreds of weddings with dozens of different vendors and caterers, not to... mention the entire spectrum of coordinators. Naturally, for my wedding, I would choose the vendors I trust and know to do goodwork. Eco Caters is by far one of the best caterers I?ve ever had the pleasure of working with. They are on their game, and thefood is fantastic. Their prices are beyond fair, and you?re guaranteed to get top quality ingredients prepared by chefs withyears of expertise. They are a full service caterer, so they will help you plan the big day to a T.
