The Manager?s attitude is what truly made this experience bad: I tried to place an order on line to buy the 1 large-up to 3... topping pizza for $10 but could not so I called to place the order. The guy tells me that special is only on line. I explainedthat I tried but their pages were not loading and that is not my fault (no it was not my internet.) So then I speak to amanager and explains to me that the Pizza Hut website is not affiliated with the Pizza Hut in San Diego bcs they are afranchise. Which is crazy to me but ok, so what deals do you have in San Diego? The 3 topping large is 12.99 I think, I say okand say ham, pineapple and cheese. Cheese is extra, he says. All the while he sounds frustrated as if I?m supposed to know allthis! After that I just hung. Too much drama for pizza?I called Papa John?s and ordered from them. They have great customerservice. I was never a pizza hut fan, even as a child. But hey! I'm a privileged white guy who has had an opportunity to enjoy some of... the harder hardships the rest of my family never really thought about. This pizza hut franchise is a part of the restaurantmeals program for CalFresh which means that while I have taken up residence a few times now over the past decade at Balboa Parkand Morley Field, I have the comfort knowing that I can buy a pizza or two for less than 7-Eleven charges and know I'm noteating straight up thawed out frozen pizza, and I have more options as well. The team is friendly and moreover the guys runningthe register know what to do whenever I pull out that EBT card. And you can pre-order preparing for the longer than usual walkthan just hopping in the car for carryout. To my understanding they'll even do delivery with your EBT info so long as you canprovide it on request at one of their predetermined drop-off points, but you have to cash out the delivery fee and tip. Maybeonce I no longer have a need for public assistance, I'll use the last months allowance and get my fellow park lodgers and throwa pizza party for them. Because as much as I've helped anyone who's asked for it, to the best of my ability and within the meansI have at that moment, I know the struggles now that I've lived them, and resources go fast and are easily removed by those whowanted or needed them more, park officials doing their job and peace officers going above and beyond their duty, seeing less ofthe humanity and more corralling us to the shelters even during viral and bacterial outbreaks spreading the disease. But hunger,hunger here amongst the homeless is far less than it was 10 years ago, heck housing isn't what it was 5 years ago. But that'sfor some other review...Pizza hut on Texas Street and University Ave Restaurant meals program for the homeless and elderly, it'snot just a lifesaver, it's an increase in my quality of life.
