I cannot say enough good things about Umi Sushi!! The sushi is SOO fresh. The pricing is extremely reasonable and the staff is... so friendly! My family of 5 and grandma sat at the sushi bar so the kids could watch the sushi being made. My husband and Ithink it's the best we have ever had! Definitely don't hesitate to give this place a try. We also ordered one kids meal, thechicken teriyaki, and even that felt super fresh and came with a decent amount of food. The pot sticker (or whatever they arecalled) that came with the kid's meal is the best one I've had as well. It was sooo crispy on the outside and yet soft on theinside. I have been coming to this place for lunch for years and try to bring anyone who likes the freshest sushi with! The staff have... always been wonderful,; friendly, on top everything (drinks, orders, food, extras), and pretty quick to boot! They have specials-which combine aspects of rolls or add a flare that never disappoint, reasonable prices -especially for the quality and quantityof food, and have a great atmosphere -super clean, warm, and inviting. This round we had the lunch special where you choose 2rolls, I had the spicy California and Hawaiian rolls; she had the spicy tuna and Washington rolls...all were super fresh -fromthe rice to the veggies to the fish, like a bit of happiness in your mouth. The service and staff were great, the restaurant was clean and organized as well. The food however fell short, the sushi rice... was mushy, I couldn't see the individual grains, there was no rice vinegar in the sushi either. Additionally the rolls were cutunevenly and the fish on nigri were cut haphazardly. Lastly the amount of rice was a lot compared to fish in rolls and the fishwas not lacking. If you read past reviews people mentioned the portion sizes being generous I believe this is what theymean. The chicken katsu was plated strangely (cut up pieces on chicken set in a large shallow bowl with a smaller bowl of sauceset on top of the chicken and rice on the side in a smaller bowl). The chicken was quite dry, it seems like the chicken waspounded super thin and the fried for a tad too long. The salad that accompanied the katsu was inedible due to the lack ofdressing and the dressing was extremely garlicky. Overall not great! I don't think this is one individual's fault at therestaurant but instead an overall failure of management and ownership. I am surprised to see this place has good google reviews. My first impression of this place was to find out that the website... listed on Google redirect to an obvious Fake website that redirects everything to a pay per click advertisement. I tried toinform the representative on the phone of this and they seem confused and Tried to redirect me to yelp or GrubHub. Aftermanaging to place a Phone order I got the food home to find that it was far below the quality expected of a restaurant with thisprice tag and in this neighborhood. The chicken was undercooked. The beef was filled with gristle and bone. The eel sauce isexpired or just the worst eel sauce I?ve ever tried. And the ?Yakisoba? is just Ramen noodle dressed up with vegetables. But thekicker is how bad it tasted. As soon as it hit my tongue and spit it out because it tasted nothing short of foul.
