What a wonderful meal, and the owner could not have been more charming and solicitous (and he's also the chef!). We came here... for a meal before our show at SF Playhouse, and despite living in SF for 30 years, I'd never been. We had the chef's tastingmenu which came with three delicious and unique appetizers and 3 entrees! I love Indian food but always order the same items, sothe tasting menu was a revelation. I'll also point out that this is a place you want to dine-in--the space is airy, elegant, andlarge (so good for bigger parties). Looking forward to taking friends and coworkers here and also picking up take-out on thosenights I'm downtown shopping and too tired to cook. Read more
Food was good, naan was soft and hot, mater paneer was tasty. The spice level was just right. However, the service from our... waiter was awful. He cleared our plates away aggressively fast after making no attempt to ask how we were doing the entire meal.As soon as we finished he brought the bill without saying a word to us or asking how it was or if we wanted anything else. Hebrought the bill and the credit card machine to the table and impatiently waited for me to get my credit card out then watchedover me as I chose a tip and signed for the bill. I heard about New Delhi restaurant for years through many different social circles but I can't believe I waited so long to try... it myself. It has been a year since I have been coming here and it gets better with every visit. It is honestly a gem of arestaurant. If you are looking to have a fine dining experience with the most authentic food and excellent customer servicethen look no further. The staff and the owner visited my table multiple times to make sure everything was well taken care of. Iam particular about my spice level but also like experimenting new foods, the owner and the staff has suggested me differentdishes based on my liking and mood and they were on point.
