Service was 4 stars where staff was very attentive and prompt with service. However, they tried to oversell you by saying 'this salmon is Alaska which is the best in the world, this tuna is from Spain which is one of the best in the world' and on and on. The quality of the fish was B where some were great and a few tasted fishy. The worst dish was this chawanmushi which had uni on top and it was cooked which tasted bad. What a waste of uni. I don't think I will be going back.

Truly a spectacular experience. I came here on the recommendation of my friend who?s a SF local and this place did not disappoint. Every part of the evening was like an artistic performance. Every little detail- in how the food was made, plated, served- how each cup and glass was placed- how each server was so attentive and graceful. Each course was so well executed and the details and story behind each piece was concisely narrated. I cannot even begin to recount what each piece of nigiri was- but it was a wide range of different fishes from all over- each piece was fresh and flavorful and well thought out. I highly recommend getting the supplement- those were my favorite nigiri of the evening. Price wise, I can?t speak for the Bay Area, but generally, omakase where I?m from (east coast) will run you about the same, or even a little more. Do know that they include a (very WELL deserved) 20% service charge. I will recommend sushi hon to all my friends and family!

Food: 11/10 Service: 11/10 My. Jaw. Dropped! This is now my favorite sushi spot in the bay. Let's talk fish--tender, flavorful, absolute YUM! I was speechless. And the uni is a m u s t try! Now the service--unbelievable! 1) They noticed my long coat and quickly offered to hang it for me so it doesn't touch the ground. 2) They were so kind as to describe multiple sake options for us given our taste preferences. 3) They took notice of everyone's dominant hand and rearranged the plating for my lefty friends. How courteous! 4) They strive for synchronous service where each plate is set on the table at the same time. This only worked for the first course since it was a busy night, but love the effort. 5) They beautifully explained every piece in the omakase in great detail. Some side details: Their music selection is very vibey. We loved it so much, we asked the manager for the playlist. Street parking only, so good luck! 100% recommend to all sushi lovers. Can't wait to come back here again!

Outstanding quality and some forever memorable bites and beverages. Keen attention to detail. Dearly loved the sweet soybean dessert surprisingly as well.

A really lovely omakase; lots of care put into each dish, with thoughtful departures from a traditional omakase that aren't overly Americanized. Friendly and attentive staff made my sushi bar seating really enjoyable. And, a good value! My base $115 omakase included 19 nigiri / dishes. (There are premium supplements as well.) I'll definitely be back!

Great sushi place for high end quality fish-beautiful presentation. Neighborhood fave. Serving time between meals was sort of slow, so I had to take off a star. They were attentive at the beginning then drifted off.

I came here with my friend and I am impressed with the food and service. We both got the exclusive omakase and premium selection supplement. The cold appetizer was very nice and refreshing. The octopus was really tender and had very nice flavor. The nigiri sushi were just out of this world. Each sushi was expertly crafted and seasoned by the chef. The flavor / texture profile is just so complex and unique to each piece. I had to take my time to savor each piece. I took a sip of water between each piece to cleanse my palate so I could fully enjoy the next piece. I believe if the chef added just a bit less glaze on each sushi, the natural favor of the fish would come through even more. At the end, the soy bean panna cotta was excellent as well. The sea salt, crunchy topping really helps contrast with the silky and sweet panna cotta. Service was excellent and friendly. We never even had to pour our sparkling water ourselves. The waitresses were very through in explaining the dishes to us. The meal was very well coursed out and paced. If I had to nit pick, I would say that the restaurant charged too much for the sparkling water ($8.00 per person). Overall, I really enjoyed the experience. I love eating sushi and I think any sushi lover should come here at least once to experience the cuisine here.

The omakase was different and had some definite high points throughout the meal. The king salmon was fantastic and the wide variety of fish was enjoyable! Unfortunately the Santa Barbara uni was lackluster, missing at least for me some of the nutty notes and replacing it with a little bitterness. Otherwise everything was a culinary joy. The service was helpful, attentive, and knowledgeable about the food and sake. I would happily go back for another special occasion and would recommend it to anyone looking for the omakase experience for close to $100 per person.
