I worked at the original Yum Yum Fish from 2011 - 2012. When it suddenly closed, I wasn't shocked because it was expected. ... Their health score was consistently a C-, they were shut down several times, the rats were HUGE and the co-owners hated eachother. When this place opened again, I thought a bunch of terrible things since they used the same name as the original place. Turns out, the best sushi chef that I worked with at the time decided to open this place up with the old namesake! He was theonly chef I trusted to make my food when I worked here. I try to visit whenever I visit San Francisco and the food is excellentand he's done a great job. Anyone who's been in SF a long time knows how much of an institution Yum Yum Fish was when theJapanese fish monger still worked here. It went downhill but I think the current ownership is doing a great job reigniting thesupport behind the name. Read more

We decided to support a neighborhood spot and ordered their sushi platter B for dinner. Kinda disappointed with their business... practice. Sushi platter B had a combination of different sashimi including ebi, hamachi, and various fish. In the menu, theUni was part of it. That was one of the reasons we chose that platter. We placed our order by phone and the girl taking theorder asked for a credit card for the order since it was a large order. No problem. When we arrived to pick up the platter, they handed us the tray, and receipt. We signed the receipt and walked off with our trays. When we got back to the car, wenoticed a note on the tray. It read ?Uni changed to Sake Toro since we ran out of Uni.? Anyone who knows sushi knows Uni andSake Toro (Salmon Toro) are two separate species with different price points. Uni is more expensive. If you look on theirwebsite, they charge ?Sake Toro? $5.75/piece and Uni $8.50/piece. That?s a significant price difference if we are talking aboutfour pieces of Uni. I find their business practice was not honest and not based on principle: 1. They had our phone number. They could?ve called to tell us they ran out of Uni to let us know they were substituting with a different fish or asked if thatwas ok. 2. They didn?t tell us anything at the time of pick-up. Just charged the credit card, had us sign the bill. 3. Theycharged us the full amount for the platter as if we had Uni (I.e., offered no deduction from the total bill) When my husbandcalled back to speak to the manager to ask what happened. They offered no explanation other than that they ran out of Uni. Husband asked how they would make it right, if they planned to refund us the price difference. They did not offer to refund usthe difference or deduct the amount from the bill. Only offer was ?next time we will make it right.? The fish was fresh but Ido not believe in supporting this kind of dishonest business practice. Times are rough, but don?t tre Read more

Just ordered for takeout. Told ready in 10, ready in 9. Perfectly packaged. Got home, hot food still hot, roll good temp. Miso... on point, gyoza quite possibly the best I?ve ever had and spicy tuna roll, delicious. Less than $20 before tip. Fantastic.Incredibly happy. Parking is not by any means anything they can control but if it was easier I would be here ALL THE TIME. So.Good. Thank you! Read more
