It is a little difficult to know how to rate this "restaurant". The food is ok, but not great. The "hotdogs" are huge and my... kids loved them. The fries are good. My ruben was well more like a grilled cheese with ham but was tasty. The attraction is therailroad cars. My 8 year olds really enjoyed the experience. The explored the train inside and out. Read more
This place is soooo cute! Great sandwiches too. If you're looking for something unique and different for lunch then this place... is a must. It's circus themed and very cleverly done. We truly enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was great too. Read more
When you drive up, you may be wondering about your upcoming experience, as the train is not exactly shiny and bright. However,... once inside it is nicely restored with all kinds of fascinating circus memorabilia and photos lining the other cars. Afterordering, you are invited to tour those cars. Lunch had some interesting things on the menu. I loved my grilled cheese made withbrie with a mixed berry preserve inside, too. Plus fresh homemade chips. My friend really enjoyed the bratwurst sandwich, allfrom a friendly server. Prices were very reasonable. All in all, it was a pleasant and unusual place. We are planning to take agroup there. "Hidden gem," is often overused, but Bob's Train truly is one. You eat in a railway dining car with circus memorabilia aplenty.... I had the grilled brie with jam sandwich and homemade chips and it was great. There is also a good chance that Bob, who does thecooking, will come out and say "hi." The man is a walking encyclopedia of circus history, and also shares stories of his time inthe U.S. Navy if you ask, such as being on a ship only a couple of miles from a nuclear bomb being detonated underwater whensuch tests were still allowed. Love this place, Bob makes a mean sourdough Brie cheese and fruit sandwich! Loved the conversation, the owner actually engages... with his customers. Learned a lot about the Ringling circus here, Bob told us some stories on his life and experience when hewas young. He actually makes the food, just a welcoming and wonderful place to go, awesome food. Waitress was helpful andfriendly, told us about the different train cars on back.
