My personal experience of the service and food at this newly crowned restaurant was excellent. That also explained why... reservation is hard to come by and we did and have been trying for a whole week until just a day before an outdoor table wasavailable (canceled booking get snatched in nano seconds). We felt triumphant !! My fav is the fried chickens (super crispyskin and moist meat) and pineapple glazed pork ribs (soft and flavourful). I would give the grilled dry-aged fish a shout outtoo but its only served one half side of the fish and for 49bucks that aint cheap but also seriously tasty. The citrusy of thesauce just brings out the freshness of the fish and excites your palette. The tom yum on the other hand I would not recommendit, its a little fishy and underwhelming. Drunken noodle was another stand out. The flat rice noodle they use is nothing likeother restaurant. Its thin, less starchy and a very good mouth feel to it like crystal noodle(???). The night could notcomplete without our friendly server and knowledgeable sommelier that both bring joy to our table. Since the restaurant didnthave any dessert, we were recommended by our (of course) lovely server to a nearby sweet spot just down the street. Khrup. Read more

Our meal at Anajak was good. We ordered from the regular menu. The best way we could all describe it was "Elevated Thai."... Unfortunately, it loses some of what makes Thai food so good when treated that way. It was very expensive for what we got. Allin all, it was a nice meal that we're happy we experienced. We won't return though. Good restaurant? Yes. Best restaurant in LA?Not even close. Read more

LA Times, are y'all awake? I need a checklist of WHY this is the 2022 Restaurant of the Year. I just don't understand where the... rave reviews are coming from. First let's start with the atmosphere, decor is nice and lots of wine bottles on thewalls/table.... the only problem is I don't think they have AC cause I was DRIPPING sweat in there, TMI but even my familyjewels were struggling to survive. I mean I guess it's nice if want that humid Asia vibe, makes me feel like I'm back at mychildhood home. Pretty sure the ventilation is not top tier either because you can see the smoke that seeped through the diningarea, felt like I was looking at LA smog. Okay, let me talk about cuisine now: We got 3 out 4 things we ordered. -Southern/Thai Fried Chicken: portion is an outstanding 5 pieces with 2 types of sauces. Even comes with a bit of sticky ricewith shaved crispy garlic on top. But overall, the sauces saved the dish. I rate it 7/10 - BBQ Pork Collar: decent but not worth$28, portion is for someone who already ate before coming there. The shredded purple cabbage with that sauce is a good touch. Irate it: 6.5/10 - Noodles Supreme: dry and bland, I would let the texture pass but come on, the flavor has to compensate whichit did not. I rate it: 3/10 - To what was supposed to be Mango Sticky Rice but they apparently "ran out". Can't rate thisone. With that being said, let me include my photos of the food (at least aesthetic isn't shabby). Giving this another star onlybecause our server was nicer. Oh mind you, the place opens at 4:00pm, we have reservations at 4:00pm (even got there a fewminutes early). We were the 2nd party inside the restaurant and you're telling me that you "ran out" of mango sticky rice anhour and 15 mins later when I already ordered it the moment I was seated? Get outta here.... Disappointed and still hungry. Read more

Went for Thai taco Tuesday. Got in line around 5:30 pm and there were already 6 or 7 parties ahead of us. It moved decently fast... once they opened at 6:15, and we were able to order around 6:30 pm. The food came out pretty quickly once we sat down in theoutdoor-only seating area. It was an interesting experience paying almost $100 per person to sit at a worn-out wooden table onplastic stools like you'd find in 3rd world country street food stands, using paper plates and disposable utensils. Food wise, everything was tasty and unique, but I wouldn't come again to pay this much for it. My wife especially liked the dry aged fishtacos, and we both thought the fried chicken was really juicy and flavorful (except for one piece that was really dry). Thepapaya salad came out first and was a good palate cleanser, so I'd recommend saving it to eat between other bites. I didn'tparticularly enjoy any of the raw fish tostadas. The fish was good quality, but putting it on tostadas was a waste in my opinion- you don't really appreciate the flavor of the fish or uni. My wife thought the laab meatballs were a tad dry, and she wasn't afan of the heavy lemongrass flavor, but I enjoyed them. Spicy drunken noodles were not as spicy as I would've imagined or liked, but it was nice to add some of their Thai chili juice+peppers that came with other dishes. Mango sticky rice was to go-only, andthe mango was great. The sticky rice was a bit harder than I liked, but maybe that's how it's supposed to be? I'm no sticky riceexpert. My wife gives this place a solid 4/5 stars, but we wouldn't come back because it's so pricey and the line is solong. Hot tip: bring your own water/wine/drinks since you sit outside and they only have bottled water and wine for purchase. Read more
