Yesterday we decided to go to a restaurant we had been a little curious about for years. Veneto Italian Restaurant in... Silverdale, Washington. Honestly, it isn't much to look at from the outside; The location is in a small strip mall around a fewother small restaurants and stores. So the "visually" pleasing part of it isn't there. However, walking inside, it was cozy andcute; not a lot of seating options available but more of a warm feeling. Gabriela was our server; she was warm and very pleasantwith a beautiful smile. Looking through the menu, I noticed the large array of items to choose from, each one sounding betterthan the last one, but I've always stood by the notion that more isn't necessarily better; it usually means something has tocompromise quality or amount wise. However, for that said, our dinner last night was incredible! We started with a warm breadbasket with an olive oil and herb dip, then moved on to the appetizer: six coconut prawns with a pineapple apricot dippingsauce; I could have eaten only that for dinner and been full. It was so good! We then moved on to our main dinner. BTW we sharedour plates. I ordered Lobster Ravioli Bobbyno; which contained five (I believe) large lobster ravioli, around a half-dollarsize, with shallots and a cheese cream sauce, and a balsamic drizzle; it all just worked perfectly and tasted so good! TheLobster Ravioli came with a choice of regular dinner salad or Caesar, and I chose Caesar salad; the dressing was great,definitely not a bottle or packaged dressing! My hubby ordered Pollo Veneto, a chicken sauteed in olive oil and fresh garlic.It also had spinach, tomatoes, and basil with hints of red pepper flakes and parmesan. Plated alongside all of that were freshveggies and angel hair pasta. Talk about something full of flavor, and the textures were perfect! Almost everything was perfect! Excellent customer service, warm atmosphere, great flavors! Things we didn’t like was the... scallops were superrrrrrr small on the scallop risotto. And it was very sweet if you mixed everything. The gnocchi with meatsauce was delicious in sauce BUT the gnocchi was so doughy it was like mozzarella. I unfortunately couldn’t finish it becauseof the texture. My mother had the Gorgonzola pasta I believe and that was by far my favorite! We wanted to love this place so bad. Nice quaint restaurant. The service we received was warm and friendly. The clean... establishment and had a relaxing Italian music in the background. But, the food was awful. My spaghetti and meatballs was blandand the meatballs were cold. I only ate half of a meatball and 3 bites of of the spaghetti. My wife's Salmon Risotto was alsohard to eat. The Salmon was overcook and dry. The Risotto was cooked whole rice with sweet cream. It was not Risotto. And hermixed vegetables were soggy and bland. Read more
