Always love the poorhouse! Nice atmosphere combined with great food and a good selection of drinks. Had a Cuban with sidewinder... fries. Cuban was great but if you're really hungry it's a little smaller so I would recommend a burger instead. Sidewinderfries are the best steak fries I've had, perfectly cooked and seasoned. Read more
Myself and two others went to have a late lunch today (New Year's Eve). We arrived a little after 1 p.m. and there were several... other groups eating lunch, as well as at least one group that came in after us. It took about 5 minutes after we were seatedbefore our waitress, Tiffany, came over to take our drink order at which time she mentioned that we were "lucky" we got in hereas they would be closing soon. We didn't think much of it as there were still several other tables occupied in the restaurantgetting food and drinks, as well as knowing another party came in right behind us. After bringing our drinks back and giving ustime to look over the menu, our waitress came back to take our order at which time she told us "Just so you know, it's going totake a hot minute to get your food." We said that was okay, as the restaurant did not seem that busy that our food would bedelayed for a long time. I placed my order first. When one of my dining partners began to place their order of wings, thewaitress said "No, we aren't doing those anymore today". We asked how soon they were closing and she stated "Soon, you are mylast table of the year". It was extremely obvious that our waitress did not want us there. Based on her rude behavior and theinability to get wings (what both of my other dining partners wanted to order), we decided to just finish our drinks and findsome place else to eat lunch. The waitress stated "okay!" and left us with our drink bill. After getting home, we were stillsurprised that food and drinking establishment would be closing so early on NYE. Upon looking at the Facebook page for answersfor the exact time of closing and any reasoning behind it. "Happy NY to all of our valued customers!! We will be closing ourkitchen tonight at 8 and closing the bar at 9 to celebrate the new year with family and friends!!" My first experience with this establishment and it was an excellent one. We arrived at 5pm and were met with a friendly... greeting, quick to seat, quick and friendly wait staff at the table. Appetizer was out roughly 7 minutes after ordering withentrees to follow a few minutes later. The only thing that I didn't like was how loud the noise was from the televisions, madeit difficult to hold conversation at times. Other than that one thing, the over all experience was amazing. The food was okay but the service was mostly terrible. I normally wouldn't have minded the wait as it got very busy shortly... after my party of 3 arrived... but after over 40 minutes of waiting for our food... a random waitress proceeded to bring overthe wrong order 2 separate times and rather than apologizing she simply looked at our table like we were the idiots for notordering what she was trying to give us??
