My husband and I were SO excited to try this place! We had been to Smithville several times while planning our wedding there,... but usually on a Tuesday when this place is closed. The day after our wedding we finally made it here, and I'm so glad wedid! First of all, the DRINKS. I had a Bloody Maria (tequila instead of vodka, didn't even know that was a thing) and it wasAMAZING. My husband had the Palomita, which was also great. The chips are homemade and really unique. We ordered a handful oftacos- chicken mole, birria, carnitas, and they were all some of the best tacos I've ever had. We only had one that was decent,but not out of this world (the sweet potato taco- def valuable as a veggie option but not going to knock your socks off). Itried some of my nephew's quesadilla and that was tasty too. The salsa was so good I took some to go and put it in a cooler allthe way back home to Dallas. Since moving to Texas ten years ago, I've been to plenty of taco joints but this one is definitelygoing in the hall of fame. Read more
We went this evening to celebrate my husband's birthday. He ordered the Dirty Nachos. They were served on what looked like a... material tray, enough to feed two or more people. The beef tasted so good, it was tender. I would definitely say it is worththe drive. We really enjoyed sitting outside and watching the sunset, bats and train. The staff was extremely friendly. Awesome! This place is a gem, wish it was in my hometown (Salado) as it would do amazing! Great setup with a restaurant/bar... split (both kid friendly) and a patio that links them together. Great margaritas (loved the frozen spicy) at a reasonable price.Chips are made in house and are very very good. I came back the next day and had breakfast tacos and they were great! Easily thebest restaurant in Smithville. I know the group who started it has a few successful restaurants in Austin and it shows theydidn't cut corners here. Give this place a try, it won't disappoint. One idea for an improvement would be to improve thesignage on the side of the building that faces the street. It is hard to know that just around the corner is a restaurant. Read more
