I used to go to Phil's all the time when I was in high school. I have so many memories of ditching morning classes to play... hookie there and eat a yummy breakfast. This place is not the same, but I was hoping it'd be for the better. I was so excitedto try out the roof top (I haven't been here in 20yrs) but we couldn't stay outside due to the bees. No fault to the restaurant,of course. Until... We were sat upstairs on the other side of the roof top. The bartender of the roof top continued to be ourserver, though obviously it would be a nuisance to walk to the other side to serve us. This in turn led to no timely refills ofanything. Meanwhile we are sitting front row to the drama of a woman who worked the inside section. Crying because of a breakup, flirting with an under aged employee, angry and passive aggressive towards the bartender while fully ignoring that myself,husband and two (under the age of 8) children. It was beyond awkward and got to the point where I almost said something. Thefood was over done and sloppy. Not worth $88 for the four of us. Which is absurd. Our first ever visit. Great food! Great service! Comfortable atmosphere. Nice to see all the employees working together and... being so kind to each other. We chose to sit at the counter. We watched as the cook handled many orders at the same time --Eggs, omelettes, homefries, pancakes ... Her "helper" for lack of a better term, grilled sausage, bacon, steak, made the toast,English Muffins and bagels. I think he also did the waffles. Great team work from everyone. We stopped by just because we werein a line waiting to get the oil changed on the car. It turns out it was a great wait! We will go back! Read more
Rooftop breakfast in Wakefield. Not much else to say. But I will. The food was really really good. Wish I'd found this little... treasure earlier! Next time there, Phil's will be a stop. Worth the wait! Read more
5 of us went for breakfast August 19th. We were seated upstairs. We ordered pretty typical breakfast items. The waitress was... pleasant. Some of the silverware was greasy. Our biggest complaint was that nothing was hot. We asked for our coffees to bereheated and they were a little warmer. The toast was cold, the eggs, bacon and hash browns were barely lukewarm. The order ofpancakes was barely warm to the touch and the sausages were actually cool. We asked for that to be reheated, the plate was gonefor several minutes and when it was returned, there was no improvement in the pancakes (soft butter didn't melt at all) and thesausages had improved from cool to lukewarm. None of us ate more than half of our meals. Cold eggs and pancakes areunappetizing. The waitress was aware that things were cold, asked if the pancakes were any better. This was the first time I ever tried this place. I ordered chicken tenders and this was how they were delivered. RAW. Granted I... was refunded from DoorDash but will not be coming back. Read more
