Really mediocre experience. I was stunned that it was $40 for the salmon. It comes with overcooked beans and no seasoning. The... crab cake was soaked with dill and the mushrooms were vastly oversalted. We waited a SOLID 35 minutes for our food afterordering. The waiter scraped the crumbs from the table on to the floor. The people at the table next to us, ordered, got theirfood and finished it before ours even came. The only reason for two stars is that the atmosphere in the main dining room isnice. The prices are so absurd because it's not a high rent area like say Manhattan, it's not a chef anyone has heard of, andthe ingredients are nothing out of the ordinary. Salmon, crab cake (one), and a side of mushrooms was $100. Definitely won't beback. Read more
Had a reservation for outdoors on our Anniversary but our table had one wet chair and they tried harder to keep us indoors than... accommodating us outdoors… My wife solved it by grabbing a dry chair… This is a lovely atmosphere and the food ismemorable… but the prices are getting stupid… a $10.00 piece of salmon shouldn’t cost $39.00 regardless of who cookedit… guess we’re done eating here… Read more
Super disappointing. My wife and I try and make reservations here often for our date nights and open table shows no tables. We... were able to finally get one and when we showed up the place was empty? Anyway, if you don’t like seafood, don’t come hereas there are not a ton of non-pescatarian options unless you like veal tongue or rabbit. My wife ordered a glass of wine andthey maybe poured her half a glass, we thought it was like a joke or something but it was not. I ordered a burger and for a $25burger it was so undercooked i couldnt finish it, soggy fries, could have gotten so many better burgers in town for way cheaper.My wife’s pasta dish was good, the staff was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was cool. Artisan has clearly lost its status as a top dining destination. I had dinner there during Restaurant Week and give it low marks... on both service and food. Since our waiter never checked back on our meals after the busgirl delivered them, we didn't have theopportunity to report that my Chicken Paprikash was disguised as a vegetarian meal...containing only 4 thin flat 2" strips ofchicken. Besides our waiter never checking in on us except to deliver the check, the manager happened to come by while I was inthe restroom. My dining partner told him about my sorry meal. The manager looked like deer in the headlights and neverapologized nor tried in any way to give this experience a happy ending. Too many fine restaurants in Fairfield that deliverexcellence in service and food. Don't waste your time, money and expectations on Artisan. Read more
