This was one of the most bizarre and surreal dining experiences I've had. It's been a couple months since I was last here, just... keep forgetting to write this review, so maybe something has changed since then. I ordered three items, burnt ends, a Caesarsalad, and Cajun pasta. None of them were good. The salad was a strange deconstruction that came out as a bunch of wholeromaine leaves instead of a proper salad and was more like an appetizer you were expected to dip. The burnt ends didn't deservethe name as they didn't embody what anyone thinks about when they imagine the dish. Instead of a barbeque dish with a nicecaramelized barbeque sauce they had a strange honey sauce and the fat hadn't been fully rendered so there were large chunks ofit. It was also served with naan bread for some reason, why not Texas toast? Lastly the Cajun pasta had a bland sauce and theonly Cajun flavor came from these bacon bits rather than being a part of the sauce. I didn't finish any of it. None of it wasworth what I paid for it. Maybe I'm partly to blame for not getting prime rib at a restaurant named for it, but the prices onit were a bit excessive when compared to even chain places like Texas roadhouse. The service was also poor with waitressesstanding around chatting with each other or their friends. My advise? Don't try and reinvent the wheel, there's nothing wrongwith serving a typical dish so long as it's done well, especially when you're alternative was a strange version done verypoorly. Read more

I ordered a ribeye steak medium rare. It tasted more like medium well. The really only decent thing was the mashed potatoes and... salad. The waitress was pretty nice but at some points I'm pretty sure she ignored my table in general. Read more

Giving a shout out to everyone at the Prime Rib! We had a last minute need for a space to fit 30 people for a class reunion (yes... a totally unrealistic ask during the Iowa/Iowa State Game, first weekend of the fair, and on a Saturday night) and they wentabove and beyond to accommodate us with literally only 3 hours notice. It was a huge relief that they could even take us, and ontop of that they were so kind and welcoming when we arrived. Pair that with the amazing service, great food, and consistentcheck ins while we were there, we would 100% recommend Rob and his team for any event that you have. Here are a few things theyoffer in their party room: - projector screen - music in the room or game audio - side tables for displays or gifts - Totallyprivate seating - super kind wait staff and owner - huge space for up to 50 people - option to split the room fee amongst theattendees if needed - reasonable room rental fee ($50) for as long as you need Read more

My wife and I ordered the Steak and Lobster and expected a real treat. We got the "Trick" instead. The meat was so tough that a... fork was hard to get into it. The lobster was chewy and took a long time to get it to where you could swallow it. We complainedand got a WHOLE $15 off of a $140.00 bill. We felt like we were robbed and will never return. Maybe at these prices they shouldfire the COOK and hire a CHEF. Read more
