Long review but worth the read - esp in the post covid service industry. Luminary is by far the best restaurant in Springfield!... We have been there 3 times in 6 months and have thoroughly enjoyed our experience each and every time and was our new favoriteplace after the first visit. First, the food and drinks: the food is so incredible. We have tried 6-8 different things on themenu, (one lunch date and two dinner dates), and each appetizer or meal is just as good as the next. Each meal is someticulously paired with all the flavors on the plate. Each one is unique, and DIFFERENT than what you find in 99.8% of therestaurants in Springfield. I am so impressed with the fusion of innovation on classic meals. (Highly recommend the CanterburyPrime Ribeye with mojo fries and Cuban slaw. Literally the best dinner I?ve ever had.) The drinks are SO good, so well craftedand clever! I love the drink names! Second, the service and atmosphere: the vibe in the restaurant is so calm and they playgreat music! Everyone is there to eat a good meal, nothing rowdy or overly loud. We have seen the same people working each timewe have been in there. Servers, kitchen staff, and the owners. Every single time the service is impeccable. Quick, SOinformative and knowledgeable about the drinks and food menu. Friendly and personable, and you can tell they LOVE working there!They all operate like a big family! I?m the post covid world, we have had 75% of our dining out experience be poor due to thestaff. The food and service were enough to rate the five stars, but take back a half for the climate control. If you can arrange to sit... in the middle of the room instead of by a window (especially a west window), do that. Otherwise, you will roast. Now, thefood?don?t you hate when you go to a nice place and they serve you pretty food that?s about sufficient for your cat?s appetite?If you had a small cat? Well, LKP serves people-sized food that?s still pretty. Seriously, I am stuffed. The appetizers hereare someone else?s lunch portion. I had the shrimp gambas and my wife had the bistro salad. For our entrées, I had the Alaskanhalibut, while my wife had the bucatini pasta with shrimp. Loved every bite. They even brought around a box of cookies left overfrom lunch, and sold us the whole box for $8. This is a very nice spot for a special night out. FIVE STARS! This place is totally legit. I moved here last year from a large city out of state with amazing restaurants. Fantastic concept and execution in the atmosphere down to each ingredient. Came during the day while traveling for work. This is... definitely my favorite spot I have been to for lunch in central Illinois. It offers a unique and well thought out menu that willsatisfy anyone. A lot of people are cost minded in dining around here and for the level of quality and pricing of the lunchmenu, you will be hard to find a better value. I am excited to come back and try new things as the seasons change and the menuevolves. My new favorite spot in Springfield. Great job! Read more
