We've dined here numerous times, and it's always excellent. My wife ordered the heirloom tomato salad, and it was so good I... ordered one as well after my entree: fresh and richly flavorful. She had a mushroom risotto, and I had beef Wellington (mediumrare); both were cooked perfectly. And of course, the Queen of Sheba cake for desert. Excellent service and food, with reasonable prices. The inside was well restored seeing that the restaurant has been there since... the 1880s. We had toured the Lincoln Presidential Museum just before so this was a great culmination of a very interesting 3hour stop in Springfield. Read more

I have a recurring business gig that brings me to Springfield, IL. Maldaner's is by far my favorite part of coming here. A local... tradition that has been here well over a century, and rightly so. Food and service excellent, easily as good as Michelin starredrestaurants I have visited in big cities. My favorites so far: minestrone soup (completely vegetarian), duck confit, smokedtrout plate.-- But that's only because I haven't yet tried the beef wellington (next visit, hopefully).
