I've been back and forth on the Mexican Villa argument for years. It's always been a hard call. In the end. Here's the thing,... Almost everything I've tried from burritos, enchiladas, and tamales, all of them are very bland. Adding sauce helps but itdoesn't make then taste like what you'd expect from the dishes in question. Service is also mixed. Table servers are alwaysgreat and check in frequently. On the flip side, items are consistently forgotten on the orders. The positives, the chips arereally good, not overly salted an the sauces. The sauces are what keep me coming back. I've a very high tolerance to heat andtheir hot sauce makes me feel the burn. The mild has a nice flavor and the sweet, while not for everyone is a funtwist. Strangely, while the main dishes are bland, all of their toppings and garnishes from the lettuce, cheese, and tomato areof notable quality that's hard not to notice. All of the locations are usually clean and very heavily themed making for a funexperience. If there is one thing I can recommend, due to the quality toppings the tacos are honestly really good. I absolutely love Mexican Villa! I?ve been coming here for over 2 Decades and the food is always great! The most common item is... the Sancho Enchilada Style and it is just the best! I?d really like to brag on the service we received by Savannah for my momsbirthday lunch today. She was a spectacular waitress and made sure to always go out of her way to make sure we had everything weneeded, Good service is very hard to find these days but I really can?t thank her enough. Horrible Salsa is a poor description, watered down grape juice is better. The mild is so sweet, the medium is just the mild... thickened with a few chunks of tomatoes and the hot is unedible. It?s definitely not what I would consider ?Mexican? food, like some of the Springfield natives think, but if you?re craving a... Tex-Mex (more American) style Mexican based dish, then they don?t disappoint. Every once in a blue moon the wife and I will havea craving for their El Conquistador Sancho style burrito and hot salsa. The vibe is more of an old diner type setting, but itwas clean and comfortable. The portion was huge and we had leftovers even though we split it between the two of us. Haven't eaten there since covid started and Springfield did a mask mandate. Decided to go back today. What happened to the... homemade chips?
