I went to Lava Staten Island yesterday to celebrate Father's Day. It was our first time there and it won't be our last. The... food and drinks were absolutely amazing. Tony (who was an absolute pleasure) made sure our table was catered to from ourentrance to our departure. The food was superb. For appetizers we shared chicken & beef empanadas and delectable octopus. Ihad the beef short ribs with sweet mashed potatoes, my partner had the skirt steak, others enjoyed salmon & mussels and veal. Iforgot to take pictures because the food looked and tasted too good to not dig into immediately. We were treated to a couple ofdesserts and cappuccinos. I asked to meet one of the owners who was on the premises, his name is Mario. I had to tell himwhat a great job him and his team are doing. Mario was very appreciative and gave us limoncello to try - which definitely endedthe night with a great send off. I will definitely be back! I did manage to get one picture , which is of the veal. We are creatures of habits and we have are usual favorites but, this is our new go too. Following a recommendation from a family member, we tried Lava and had an amazing meal! Even though we were just two people, we... decided to order the Special Chef Tasting Menu so we could sample the many different dishes they offer; it did NOTdisappoint! All the selections were FRESH, flavorful, & smartly presented. Cocktails were eclectic & full bodied. The decor ismodern, clean, & comfortable. The only hesitation we had was the loud music coming from the bar area, but that was solved whenthe host seated us in a dining area, away from the bar. The meal & the staff were outstanding!
