Probably the best Chinese I've had on the island. The food came fast. It was super fresh and delicious. I ordered the General... Tso Chicken, Shrimp Fried Rice, Beef Lo Mein and Pork Dumplings. To me their food taste like very old school Chinese NYCtakeout. If you were around in the 70s and 80s you know what I mean. The chicken was crisp on the outside and super tender onthe inside. The sauce was authentic General Tso sauce. Sweet and spicy. The Shrimp Fried Rice was fresh (not stale rice here).Beef Lo Mein the beef was super tender and the lo mein noodles perfectly cooked. Tacks has had my heart since i lived in SI. I remember saving up to get a lunch special of general tso's and pork fried rice and... eating it up faster than you can say scrumlicious! Tacks is still family owned and operated from what i can tell (and they workhard), flying in from the west coast to eat a childhood guilty pleasure of mind did not dissapoint. Best local chinese takeoutplace in staten island bar none. Read more
Been going there as a teenager. The recipe for curry chicken, shrimp, and beef is amazing. Can't find this taste anywhere else.

I know it changed ownership years ago. But still not like the old tacks . Example. Recently ordered BUTTERFLY SHRIMP WITH BACON... . Disappointed! Shrimp to small and over cooked , could only taste the bacon and egg . (Need to use larger shrimp so you cantaste the shrimp) Also the shrimp toast burnt so bad we had to cut the toast off the shrimp or risk breaking a tooth...
